This summer students and faculty will board international flights to Florence, Hamburg and Taipei embarking on a life-changing experience where they will learn about culture, history, economy and the people of their destination.
The capital of Tuscany, Florence is a city that comes to life each morning to echoes of voices in the market, the rich feel of leather and cashmere being sold in shops, and the movements of bicycles as they glide along the cobblestone streets.
You will spend the first week traveling from Rome, to LaMaremma and the Italian Riviera before settling into their apartments in the historic city center of Florence. The remaining 3 weeks you will take Health and Fitness in the Mediterranean.

In this city of water, a slow stroll down the banks of the Elbe and Alster rivers provides a lesson in Hamburg’s history and economy by day and breathtaking panoramas by night. You will learn not only about the medical professional in, but the food, people and culture as well by traveling to Munich and nearby towns in Germany lead by RMU faculty alongside their Hamburg colleagues.

In the heart of Taiwan, Taipei is known for its innovative design and industry. You will participate in an intense 2 week Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship workshop lead by RMU, UIS and MCUT faculty alongside their students. Alternating days will be mixed creative and cultural tours. You will stay on campus at MCUT and also have free time to explore the amazing city of Taipei on your own.
You will also spend five days in metropolitan city of Tokyo, Japan exploring this modern day city rich with ancient history.
May 30 - June 20, 2016 • Open to all junior/senior level students
and recent graduates
12-16 credit hours • Full-time tuition + $4,200 Study Abroad Fee
Courses: CRX210 Cultural Perspectives, HUM315 Travel Writing, Independent Study and 1 optional elective
Study Abroad Requirements:
The cost to study abroad is tuition plus the study abroad fee. The Study Abroad Fee includes: Round-trip airfare from Chicago, Airport transfers at destination, Housing, Travel in Cultural Perspectives course. A $300 deposit is required at the time of application. It is credited to the applicant's account if they are NOT accepted into the program based on a decision made by RMU. If accepted, the deposit will be credited upon return, if there are no housing damages or flight changes caused by the student while abroad. All programs are subject to cancellation in the case of low enrollment.
