Real Life @ RMUTieraProgram: Accounting Hometown: Bolingbrook, IL Campus: ChicagoFirst week back to school!
Back to School, Back to School, just to prove I'm not a fool. Last week was the first week back for everyone at RMU after a whole week off. I know, thats a very very long time, lol! The first week back to school is always the most interesting to me. You have the freshmen that get lost and can never figure out where their class is, or the most common- where the Lopata Center is. If I had a nickel for everytime someone asked me how to get to the Lopata Center I would be as rich as Bill Gates. Then we have all the kids who have to estabilsh their idenitiy in class the first week. For example, every class has the class clown, but the first week of school the class clown is a lot more clownish just so everyone can know that they're the funny kid. Then we have the typical smart person who has to answer every single question just to say they can falsely feel superior to the rest of their classmates and estabilish themselves as the brainiac. Then there's me- who am I you might ask? I'm the cool kid or at least I like to think that I am ;). I'm the person that sits back and observes the other awesome and not so awesome personalities of my peers. I may crack a few jokes from time to time just to make my presence known, but not nearly enough to be considered the class clown. I'll even answer some of the professor's questions to ensure them that I'm attentive and absorbing everything they are teaching but not over done like the braniac. Then we have the professors. The professors play a huge role in this first week extravaganza. It appears that every professor has a similar goal. Get the students excited about their class within the first week. Well professors, you no longer have to worry your pretty little heads about it. I gurantee you that every student in your class is there because they want to be there. In highschool mommy and daddy used to have to drag some of us out of bed to make us go to class, but no longer. Be assured that we are all there because we want to be there. We want a brighter future and we are confident that RMU can provide that for us. Before I came to RMU I went to a university that shall remain nameless, and some of the classes were absoulutely dreadful! Huge lecture halls with over 150 kids and more than half of the kids were not paying any attention. We were only going there because it was a class that was on our schedule. The professors didn't know our names and didn't inspire us to become engaged in the class. So at times we went to class and slept or just didn't show up at all. It's not like that at RMU. At RMU my future seems a little brighter, I'm learning from not only my teachers, I'm learning from my peers as well. There's a reason why they call RMU The Experience University. It's because at RMU you receive the experience you need to grab the career that you want. Now that week one is behind us I'm highly anticipating week two, because I belong at RMU. |
