About MeMy hometown is Cleveland, Ohio, but I came to Chicago in hopes of increasing my knowledge of the culinary industry. Most importantly, I hope to find myself as I grow and mature. My biggest goal in life is to use my talents and gain knowledge to produce the best life I can for myself and my family, and to be happy and healthy.

This week went by fast as ever, and I'm ready for summer break!! A stress free vacation is what I'm looking forward to the most. I do wish our vacations, especially summer vacation, were just a bit longer. One week is just not enough. Side note- it's crazy how different my life is as well as how the close people in my life are changing. Everybody has changed and some have even started embarking on one of life's hardest tasks, parenthood. This week in my cakes class, I have started learning how to pipe out the designs that will be featured on my cake. I also recently bought the "cake dummies" from our bookstore. It was around fifty dollars for Styrofoam. That is a little pricey for me, but luckily I could charge it to my student account, for it is already week 8. The other day, or should I say night, I was at the beach right off of the redline Clark and Division stop. Anyways, I was lounging on the beach past 11:00 pm. I'm from Ohio, so I have no idea of when beaches in Chicago close and must be evacuated. So due to my lack of knowledge, I received a thirty-five dollar ticket for being in a park district after hours. I word for word told the officer "I am a broke college student and I just don't have thirty-five dollars" (I actually had two twenty dollar bills in my pocket at the time lol). His reply was "Now you know", and then drove off. Chicago cops are no joke. I heard a rumor that there were muggings going on in the city and that is why there are so many cops cracking down. In all reality and fairness I could sympathize and understand where the officer was coming from, but a ticket was and is unnecessary. There are so many crazy, bad, and hardcore people/stuff in Chicago that is unseen and happens constantly. That's where the police attention should be. All in all, lesson learned. Till next week PEACE

Although it has already passed, let me start this blog off with saying Happy 4th of July!! And what a 4th it was. This past week has gone by quick, quicker than I would of liked it to. Another week full of finals and presentations, some went smooth and others..... I, like many other students, are counting down the days till our summer break. I leave to go home this Friday, for the whole week. I was able to do this by switching my Saturday class time to Wednesday's class- thanks Chef Mark (Who is my new I-Center restaurant class teacher)! The only regret that I have is that I will once again be missing my good friends 21st birthday. Although I will not be here with her, I will be with her in spirit. Side note: It is already July. That's crazy. School and life is just flying by. I can remember the days when I was younger and wished I was older and 21, and now that it is approaching, it amazes me how time has passed and how I've changed over the years. It gives me hope for the future and the hope I have for it. This weekend I sat at home most of the time working on my flowers for my cake, which is due Wednesday of this week. I am still unfinished but I know I will pull it together and make it look awesome/beautiful for tomorrow's deadline. As soon as I am done I will post it up so stay tuned for my cake picture next week. Yesterday was a perfect day for the holiday to fall on. It was warm, breezy and there was not a cloud in the sky. I was at the beach all day, soaking up the rays and splashing in the water. Due to lack of sunscreen I now have sunburn, which is not pleasant as we all know-although my friends find it amusing to hit and slap my body. Oh well, guess that's my fault. I stayed until after the fireworks ended. They were good but I've seen better firework displays. Side note: Why can't the culinary students have color printers? We need color printers/ink just as much as a graphic design student would. We are required to have a culinary binder with color photos inside of it. Ink is expensive but so is our tuition. Till next time.

Real Life @ RMUKevinProgram: Culinary Arts Hometown: Cleveland, OH Campus: ChicagoThe BEST weekend in Chicago!
This week was one of my best weekends I have had out here in Chicago! School is still going by faster than ever. It was week 8 and I already had to take a final. The only perk to taking my Service Marketing final though, is that we do not have to come to class on week 10. I will be there anyway however, trying to get some extra credit to maintain a high grade in the class. I also have a presentation in my Advanced Beverage Sommelier class this upcoming Thursday of week 9. OMG! This weekend was awesome on so many levels. On Saturday after my I-Center class, my roommate, friend and I decided to go up north to where they were having this free concert. The person to perform was the singer/songstress Mya!! She was there to perform for the Pride Celebration that was going on the entire weekend. She was awesome, coming out looking hot and fine as ever. She performed all of her classic songs and even announced and then performed a new track off her upcoming album Kiss, due out this fall. I'm so excited and have fell in love with the song "Love is the Answer" by her. (Check it out!!) The concert was only a tease of what was to come, because after she was done performing she did a little meet and greet with the fans and I was one of them. I was able to meet and snap a picture with her, and might I reiterate that she is a beautiful, beautiful woman! The next day was the annual Chicago Pride Parade. IT WAS SOOO PACKED AND CROWDED! There were hundreds of thousands of people who came out to support the cause of gay rights and equality. I was stuck in one spot for almost a half hour because people were not moving, causing a massive pile-up. It was beautiful sunny day as well; you could not have asked for any better weather. The parade lasted for hours and so did the celebrations. One of my favorite parties of Sunday's festivities was this huge dance party in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot just off of Belmont. It was pure insanity- hundreds of people dancing and having a good, safe, fun time with one another. By the end of the day I was burnt from the sun and so tired I came home and passed out. And OMG again, Transformers 3 just came out and it was AWESOME! It's a must see. So much action I couldn't even take it. It was amazing seeing Chicago turned into rubble by huge auto bots. I even saw my dorms in a couple of scenes. I saw it in 3-D also, making the effects that much more real. These summer movies have been great so far. Can't wait for Harry Potter Part 2!
