My name is Greg Taylor and I am a culinary arts student at the RMC Chicago downtown campus. I didn’t have an idea of what I was going to go to college for until my junior year of High School while living in Rockford. I was always a fan of cooking but never knew that I would one day become a professional chef in Chicago. In my personal experience life has many ups and downs and what I know for sure is that coming to Robert Morris College is definitely one of the ups that life has taken me through. I soon plan to start my Bachelors degree program in January of 2008 and I believe that coming back for my BA will put me way above the rest of the competition because of my drive to better myself educationally. A person once told me that there are ordinary people and there are extraordinary people and the only thing that separates the two are the extra things the extraordinary people do. So I try every day just to be EXTRAORDINARY!

Clubbing!!!!

So the number one question that most of the freshman have been asking is "where are the 17 and older clubs in Chicago?"

okay heres the answer that will help you find out where the clubs are.....IN YOUR DREAMS you have no idea how long i searched for a club for 17 and older students, they dont have them here in chicago but in a way thats a good thing because its just another reason for you to network with other college students from different schools. thats why i think its great that RMC dorms have other college students living in them. its soooo good that we can hang out with Columbia or CHIC or Loyola students. its gets kinf od lame just staying in your school all the time on the weekends trust me i know.

so instead of clubbing start networking and find other students from different schools to hang out with

in the next blog i'll give you a list of great hang out places here in the Big City

HEAT!!!!!

If your not from Chicago or the northern mid-west for that matter then i'm sure your not used to this blistering cold that Chicago seems to have nine months out of the year. just a simple not to you all that are here in Chicago in school, stay at the school as long as you can!!! trust me you'll thank me for it latter especialy if you live on your own in your own place like i do. the heat bill can get kind of high if your not mindful of what temp you have it on, but if you stay in the dorms its even better because you have free heat and AC in the summer. so i guess you can say thats a plus with living on campus huh?

Chicago's gas companies are very helpful when it comes to college students and their needs, we all need heat and they know this, so they have come up with the budget plan, you can call your gas company and get put on a budget plan that will have the same amount for the whole year and it wont be anything more, but this is only for the ones who are not satying on campus, as for you dorm cats never mind this blog and get out the calendars and find a good day to go ice-skating when the ice comes lol.

Stay warm everybody and remember..the cold has just begun

Hot Spots for the Winter Cold!!!

Okay, so if you’re a regular blog reader of mine then you'll know that I promised a list of Chicago hot spots where you and your college friends can hang out this winter, all of the places are open to ages 17 and up and you’re guaranteed to have a good time.

Brunswick Zone on 103rd and Cicero in Chicago- at this spot you'll enjoy some good old bowling, a dynamic game room with hot pool tables.

Dave and Busters of Chicago- the hottest games known to man are all there

River East Movie Theatre- this movie theatre has 21 screens up stairs and down and a state of the art blowing ally called Lucky Strike

Borders or Barnes and Nobles are both really hot places where you can go and relax catch up on homework or even meet a guy or gal

Coffee Shops like Starbucks or Moonstruck which is right next to the dorms are also places you can go to meet new people.

Now for the clubs!!!

Fever Fridays is a new teen club (17-and up) that just arrived in Chicago pictures coming soon from my first night there

The Lick (147th and Halstead)

Nitro (west Lake St)

are also two teen clubs that are some of the hot spots for the winter.

Try and visit some of these places and tell me what you think after all midterms are almost here and over and everyone needs a break sometimes. Have Fun!!!!
