Campus: ChicagoProgram: Culinary Arts From: Rockford, IL More...
My name is Greg Taylor and I am a culinary arts student at the RMC Chicago downtown campus. I didn’t have an idea of what I was going to go to college for until my junior year of High School while living in Rockford. I was always a fan of cooking but never knew that I would one day become a professional chef in Chicago. In my personal experience life has many ups and downs and what I know for sure is that coming to Robert Morris College is definitely one of the ups that life has taken me through. I soon plan to start my Bachelors degree program in January of 2008 and I believe that coming back for my BA will put me way above the rest of the competition because of my drive to better myself educationally. A person once told me that there are ordinary people and there are extraordinary people and the only thing that separates the two are the extra things the extraordinary people do. So I try every day just to be EXTRAORDINARY!

Should I stay or should I go?
Well folks it all comes down to this....should I stay here in Chicago or should I move back home? Okay, I know your saying, Greg, what does this have to do with me? Right? Okay here it is. if I stay here in Chicago I’ll have to pay rent and plus other utilities and other bills as well but I’ll have my freedom and my mind will be at ease about coming in at two in the morning and virtually I can do what ever I want! But I still have bills to pay. Okay, if I go back home and live with my parents then my freedom goes right out the door. Now I’ll have a curfew again and I’ll have to do chores like clean up after my little sister and clean things that I didn’t mess up, plus I’ll have to drive back and forth to and from Chicago every single morning so as you can see it’s a hard decision to make. You see how one decision like the one I have to make can change your entire way of living or even thinking. Life is full of hard decisions like this one and you can’t make them all for your self. Some time or another you’re going to have to ask for help. I know I know what if you don’t want to ask for help? well that’s another decision you have to make but the best advice I can give anyone is never try to make a decision high or even intoxicated it'll only make the decision worst. Being sober or even at a sound mind will make one part of your decision even easier than what you thought it would be. so go on make that decision in your life that has been holding you back for the longest time, why don’t you ask that girl or guy out on that date, why don’t you take that promotion at your job. Why don’t you go on that long awaited vacation that you've saved your money for since three years ago? Try and live a little....wow I think I just made my decision as to if I should stay or should I go? Check my blog next week to see what I have decided.

Why are we so crazy for celeb gossip?
Gossip, what does that word mean? Wikapedia says that gossip consists of casual or idle talk between friends. While officially value neutral, the term often specifically refers to talk of scandal, slander, or schandenfreude relating to known associates of the participants, and discussed in an underhand or clandestine manner. It goes on to say, while gossip forms one of the oldest and still the most common means of spreading and sharing facts and views, it also has a reputation for the introduction of errors and other variations into the information thus transmitted. When was the last time your gossip has stayed between friends or was just casual talk? Not for a long time right? Well that’s just exactly what the press does with celebrities. They know that we the public will never just keep the gossip between friends so they feed it to us like peanuts to an elephant. They know that we’re going to eat it up and spread it around. Okay bad example but you get the point right? Gossip about celebrities has dominated today’s society all over the world. Not only do our children or little sisters and brothers know about Lindsey Lohan before they know what the square root of 100 is, but they could also tell you what Lohan did and what rehab she’s “resting” in. emphasis on “resting” Gossip is our life source, some of us cant live with out it, but some can. Think about it, what kind of phone does about 60% of Americans have? A blackberry; and what does the blackberry do? Send emails directly to where ever you are in less than 2 seconds after the person who’s sending the email pressed send. Its making celebrities richer every time we open our mouths because the more we gossip about them the more we are going to pay to see them at some lame premier of a movie they did, and then we get upset because the star of the movie and our gossip cant make it because of a sudden illness called “stoned.” We line up for hours outside of clubs or stores just to get a glimpse of them for 5 seconds. Trust me I did it for Oprah and Bono and will never do it again. As I leave you until next time, think about who or what kind of gossip has been your main topic in the conversation with your best friend or whom ever; and then try to not talk about that same topic the next day you see them. You wouldn’t have anything to talk about now would you? |
