I’m a Chicana (Mexican American). Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I’m the fourth child of five siblings….can you believe my little sister was born the day of my 6th birthday (and took my spotlight as the baby of the family)!! Anywho, through most of my younger years I attended three different Elementary Schools: Hammond, Pilsen and I graduated from Nightingale Elementary and then went on to Hubbard High School. After graduation I continued my studies at MacCormac College where I received my Associate’s in Business Office Technology in 2002. After so much school I would have never imagined I would be working within a school. I am currently working at a Chicago Public High School and have been there since I was granted an internship in 2001. I love my job and the people I work with. In 2005 I decided it was time to further my education and register to complete my Bachelor’s, I began at DePaul and transferred to RMC because of their great flex program, which has been treating me very well. My anticipated graduation date is early 2008. A little more about myself, I like to make new friends; I love new experiences; and I plan to join the Peace Corps to go off to different parts of the world to help in any way I can (I like to think of myself as a humanitarian). To this end, I’d like to share a little words of wisdom:
In life there is no obstacle neither too difficult nor too easy, you have put forth the best of your abilities and have a mindset of never giving up on yourself, regardless of what others may say, and never settle for failure. To be successful in any endeavor, its important that besides anyone else the #1 person who should have your back 100% is yourself, first and foremost. Believe and you will achieve!!!

Birthday Girls
More...

Well my 25th birthday is just around the corner...August 3rd!!! This Friday!!! It will also be my younger sister's 19th birthday, so we are in for a big celebration. I'm planning to have a little get together/party at my house this Friday night and I'm hoping me and my lil sis can do something like spend the day out in downtown Chicago and do some fun stuff around town. So far, I was thinking maybe we can hit Nikki in the Garden...cuz it looks so much fun, then we can hit up the Sears Tower since I haven't been there in years and I don't think my lil sister has ever been there. Going for a walk through Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain, Museum of Science & Industry, Water Tower Place....The Chicago Experience!!! It might not seem like much, but I know my lil sister would enjoy it.

Before the big day, I'm planning on hitting up Tini Martini's. My sister loves going there and I hear its good on Thursdays, so I'll be there celebrating with a few friends and family.

Saturday, of course will be spent on cleaning up the mess from Friday night and I'm not quite sure what it is I would like to do. I'll probably go to my Mom's house to spend some time over there and then try to get a group of people to go to the Empress Casino with.

Sunday I'm hoping to go to Great America. Its due time, I haven't been there yet!!! And my lil sister has never been there, so I'll be treating her. Its our Birthday....and its on Friday, so I'm trying to celebrate the whole weekend together.

Well, I'll just have to see how everything goes.

Back to Work
More...

So September is the beginning of a new school year, which for me means going back to work. So I'm here and I'm getting  prepared for the school year and working on setting up the computer lab that I manage and its more work than people might think. The first few days were a little rough because they were calling me to pass out student programs for the first week, when I could have been getting my computer lab ready for use. Plus, I had to get ready to conduct a workshop to introduce teachers to our lab policies and procedures as well as any new software applications we are using and take them through each one. And now that I am done getting organized and almost finished setting up, I feel better and can't wait to see what this year has in store for me. Hopefully good things will come.

Now I can barely believe it is the 9th week of the Summer II quarter!!! OMG, boy does time fly by. This quarter has been going so great and I have surprised myself, granted that I am taking an Accounting course and a Statistics class, but I have been doing great and am looking forward to keeping my grades up. I just wonder now what the Fall quarter courses will bring, I'm hoping it will go as smooth as this quarter.

My little sister just got her GED and I'm so excited because even though she did not finish high school, she's on track and now she's getting ready to start her courses for Medical Office Technology at West Side Technical Institute. I'm so proud of her!!! Given, she just gave birth to my niece in March and just turned 19 in Aug. So I'm excited for her and am glad that she now has her head on straight. Me and my older sister have been doing what we can so that she starts her first quarter off right, and what better way than to take her shopping for new clothes and supplies!!! What girl doesn't like to go SHOPPING??!!! It was great, and we had fun, just the sisters (plus the baby, who also got new clothes). So my weekend consisted mostly of shopping, shopping and shopping. Oh yeah!

August 17th Weekend

Friday I took one if my "sons" from the school that I work at on a trip to Six Flags because he came through on a deal I proposed to him. He was to earn a grade better than C for the classes he took during summer school. So he achieved his goal and we went to Great America and had a great time. My first time this year going to Six Flags and we had a blast.

Friday night me and my babe packed and got ready for a trip to Woodhaven Lakes. We met up with Koid and Angie and were on our way to a long ride. We went in two separate cars and were well on our way...we were doing good so far until we got kind of lost but figured out the way.  That was scary...going down some dirt road in the darkness it was about 12am. The streets were dark and there arent that many houses out there but more farm land, something from out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre...we were all trippin and the guys were trying to scare us. Well we finally arrived and we got to the gates and went in to find our spot and somehow we ended up back at the gate....we couldnt stop laughing at the fact we had just gone in a big circle. What a night. Well we finally got settled, put the  beer on some ice, and the men started the grill.  We made a bonfire and chilled drinkin beer eating tacos and trying to enjoy the night...we stood up til about 5:30am just talking and enjoying the woods around us.

The next morning it was raining, so we decided we should go to the store and buy some warm clothes cuz it was gettin chilli out. Not knowing our way around we asked for directions and ended up going the wrong way!! Then on our way home, we also lost our way!! But we had fun although it took us a while to get back. We got back to the spot and soon to come was the rest of the crew. We all chilled, hung around the bonfire and laughed most of the night. Us girls decided to go for a walk in the dark woods...but not without the machete!! We watch too many scary movies. The stars were out and were glowing so bright...it looked beautiful. It was like an explosion of stars in the sky, there were sooo many, I was in awe. We laughed and walked but were scared at the same time!!! We came back from our journey only to find that some of the guys had already gone to sleep but the rest of us made sure to enjoy the night and we had a blast. The tents werent set up so since there wasnt barely enough room for everyone in the trailer...some slept in their trucks and the others took advantage of a trailer that was unoccupied (Sam & Angie made sure) and slept in the enclosed patio...hey why not??? Everyone now had a place to sleep.

Sunday morning, me and babe got ready to leave and it was raining again. We said goodbye and we were on our way home. We were too hungry so we ran into this Mexican Restaurant and we expected it to be like (Pepe's) but this was REAL mexican food. So we got some grub and boy were their chilaquiles the BOMB!!  YUMMY YUMMY. Our appetites were satisfied and we continued on our way..,...but it started raining really hard and I could barely see the road. We got home safe and I relaxed the rest of the day and only to wake up with dozens of mosquito bites all over my hands and arms. That sucked, but I was glad to know that I had a great weekend which I spent with family and friends.  I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Thanks for inviting Koid & Angie.
