I’m a Chicana (Mexican American). Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I’m the fourth child of five siblings….can you believe my little sister was born the day of my 6th birthday (and took my spotlight as the baby of the family)!! Anywho, through most of my younger years I attended three different Elementary Schools: Hammond, Pilsen and I graduated from Nightingale Elementary and then went on to Hubbard High School. After graduation I continued my studies at MacCormac College where I received my Associate’s in Business Office Technology in 2002. After so much school I would have never imagined I would be working within a school. I am currently working at a Chicago Public High School and have been there since I was granted an internship in 2001. I love my job and the people I work with. In 2005 I decided it was time to further my education and register to complete my Bachelor’s, I began at DePaul and transferred to RMC because of their great flex program, which has been treating me very well. My anticipated graduation date is early 2008. A little more about myself, I like to make new friends; I love new experiences; and I plan to join the Peace Corps to go off to different parts of the world to help in any way I can (I like to think of myself as a humanitarian). To this end, I’d like to share a little words of wisdom:
In life there is no obstacle neither too difficult nor too easy, you have put forth the best of your abilities and have a mindset of never giving up on yourself, regardless of what others may say, and never settle for failure. To be successful in any endeavor, its important that besides anyone else the #1 person who should have your back 100% is yourself, first and foremost. Believe and you will achieve!!! So I had to drop a class and now my graduation date will be later than expected. See, this quarter I'm taking Accounting and Statistics and was also going to take Humanities 310, BUT the first week of class gave me a taste of what I was in for, and boy am I in for lots of computations and equations and all that good stuff I like about any math subjects. Anyways, so, I figured since Accounting and Statistics are pretty hard subjects to manage, I should spend more time on them and work at my own pace. A part of me didn't want to make this change....but after so much math, who wants to sit and read a long passage of literature? I know I don't. Plus, now that I'm a Senior and these higher level courses are kicking in, I would prefer to take my time and work at a pace I feel comfortable with so that I'm not going crazy trying to juggle three classes. PLUS, since I work at a school and its about that time to begin orientation and all the hoopla of beginning a new school year....I'll be very busy, so two courses will suit me and my schedule just fine. Enough about that.....ITS FRIDAY!!!! and you know what that means........STUDY STUDY and do homework!!......lol. You must think I'm crazy!!! ITS PARTY TIME!!! Everyone, have a great weekend and please don't drink and drive. A neighbor of mine just passed from such doings. Be careful and enjoy yourselves. As for me, I'm on my way to the Simpsons movie to see my favorite HOMIE (Homer... he's so dreamy!!), without commercial breaks. Also got my girls birthday bash to hit on Saturday, its gonna be a good one! Until next time, my friends.

Birthday Girls
More...
Well my 25th birthday is just around the corner...August 3rd!!! This Friday!!! It will also be my younger sister's 19th birthday, so we are in for a big celebration. I'm planning to have a little get together/party at my house this Friday night and I'm hoping me and my lil sis can do something like spend the day out in downtown Chicago and do some fun stuff around town. So far, I was thinking maybe we can hit Nikki in the Garden...cuz it looks so much fun, then we can hit up the Sears Tower since I haven't been there in years and I don't think my lil sister has ever been there. Going for a walk through Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain, Museum of Science & Industry, Water Tower Place....The Chicago Experience!!! It might not seem like much, but I know my lil sister would enjoy it. Before the big day, I'm planning on hitting up Tini Martini's. My sister loves going there and I hear its good on Thursdays, so I'll be there celebrating with a few friends and family. Saturday, of course will be spent on cleaning up the mess from Friday night and I'm not quite sure what it is I would like to do. I'll probably go to my Mom's house to spend some time over there and then try to get a group of people to go to the Empress Casino with. Sunday I'm hoping to go to Great America. Its due time, I haven't been there yet!!! And my lil sister has never been there, so I'll be treating her. Its our Birthday....and its on Friday, so I'm trying to celebrate the whole weekend together. Well, I'll just have to see how everything goes. |
The Simpsons Movie
So I finally went to see the Simpsons Movie and it was just as funny as I expected. I was aiming for catching the late show at the theater on Michigan but by the time we got there on Friday, it was sold out. Did you know that if you call MoviePhone, there is a little skit with Homer and the MoviePhone guy?? Its hilarious. Saturday was my friends birthday party and it went pretty good. But you always encounter that group of people or person that always has to cause the drama and reason for the police to show up. I guess these group of guys got into a heated situation with another group and they called the cops, and we were in Orland Park so you know the cops out there would take everyone in, if they so choose to. Can't we all just have a good time??!!! Geeez. Besides that, I had a few laughs. Mostly because there was this older lady among the crowd who, was pretty cool, but I soon found out she was my friend's aunt and must have thought her invitation was lost in the mail...lol. She said herself that even though she was not invited, she took it upon herself to show up anyways...which was a major bummer for some of my friend's cousins, ouch!! All in all, everyone had a good time and were still partying after I left at almost 5:00 a.m. Sunday was such a nice and calm day. I did a little homework, a few chores and just chilled. Being that I still wanted to see the Simpsons Movie, I was well on my way along with my sister and my boyfriend. I asked my dad if he wanted to go but he said no and that he didn't like the Simpsons to much.......I was in awe, and at that point I wondered if he was really my father. LOL. So anyways, we stopped by my boyfriends mom's house and picked up his nephew and his wife since they were also planning on going. So far, I was feeling happy that I was finally going to go see my movie. This day we had settled for Crestwood. So we are on our way crusin down Cicero and could you believe that there was this car next to us with a guy and two girls just lookin all crazy in our car like we did something to their mommas. We tried to ignore this, since one of the females in the car had a black eye, I figured she wouldn't want another one, so we went on about our business....and could you believe this girl had the nerve to throw a Gatorade bottle at my car!! Am I in high school all over again??? What was up with that?? I don't even know this girl!! So I had it with that one. They slowed down and I pulled over and as me and my boyfriend jumped out the car.... they took off. I guess they weren't as tough as they thought and I'm glad they left because I really hate violence (soo high school drama) and there was nothing really to fight for (just like in h.s.). They were Immature and Amateurs!!! That really ruined the vibe, but we made it to see the movie and boy am I glad we got there early because by the time the movie started, the place was jam packed. Soon enough, everyone was laughing. Now its Monday and its time to re-energize my brain and get ready for school and what this week has in store for me. Its also about that time for me to go back to work full-time. Orientation for my school is on Tuesday....it will be hectic. D'oh!!!! |
