My name is Catherine Deregla.  I have 7 tattoos and one day would like to go to Bangkok to have a Borneon-style tribal pattern done by a Monk while he performs a Buddhit Thai prayer while tattoo'ing me. Like the saying says "if you get one, you can't stop".

I'm currently reading "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne and is amazing. I am learning so much about myself and what I can do to inspire me and my life more and more each day. If we only can be positive in our attitude and in personal life, we can accomplish anything we set out minds to.

Author Bob Doyle says, "Basically put, the law of attraction says that like attracts like. But we're really talking at a level of thought"

Humbling Experiences
More...

"Always do what you want, and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." ~Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel, American Author

I have to say to you, that no matter what difficulities I may have been going through the past few days, a weekend filled with family makes you appreciate what you have going on.

I say it's a humbling experience, because it is. My family and my future family (i.e. in-laws) made me realize that I shouldn't take things too personally and to bear a thick skin; and as the quote mentions, "those who mind don't matter and those who matter, don't mind" couldn't be any realistic than it sounds! My little problem (check out last entry) doesn't compare to anything what they have to go through to get to where they're at now ... and yes, life throws a few unexpected surprises, but we deal with it. We deal with it and move on. We move onto our future because the world isn't going to stop when our "world" seems to stop ... we keep on going.

So I picked myself off the ground, dust myself off and going to move on. I remind myself, "this is only temporary" and it is ... I feel very fortunate to have a strong support system ...

Happy New Year!!

This year is going to be the year for a lot of changes and I feel so blessed. Looking back at the last couple years, I am so glad and grateful that I have waited for certain things, slowed down to take a moment for myself and realized that I have a bright future ahead of me.

I am almost doing with the MA Program and awaiting for a certain unviersity to see weather or not I got accepted into pre-med (I am keeping positive!!). Can you believe this ... I went from graphic design to medicine. If Plan A doesn't work, my Plan B is to enter nursing school. Only time will tell ...

Another great news is that I had my first interview just last week after so many years at my current job. I am thrilled beyond excitment that I will leaning towards more medicine than design. I don't want to tojinx anything so I will keep mum until I know for sure ... but the interview went perfect!!!

Aside from my education, Chris and I are looking forward to becoming homeowners relatively soon ... YAY! ... it's going to be an EXCITING year for the Ray Household :)

Until then ...........

Happy Holidays

The holidays are quickly approaching and somehow I seem to have snow on my brains. Have you ever gotten that feeling where you seem to be missing something? I'm pretty sure I've bought gifts for people, but somehow have that feeling ... who knows, it'll probably go away.

I've finished my medical externship and what an experience! The physicians and medical staff were truly wonderful. They went above and beyond to teach me, took the time to set me aside and educate me on medical practices and pharmacology. As the eager student, I was always available to assist in procedures ... everything from spider bites, boils and ear irrigations. I loved it!! I wanted to be in every room, to see every illness and to hear every patient's chief complaint.

One thing for sure about medicine, is that when you are taking H & P's and vital signs, it is very important to listen with your ears wide open so you don't mistake why a patient is here. Take a few moment to ask how their day was and really LISTEN. let them know that you care and you are here for them. Give your patients your undivided attention as they are looking to you for answers and help. I am believe that I really am meant to be in medicine.

The winter quarter of school is going relatively smooth. I have four classes: ENG 225, FIN 125, HUM 230 (online) and SCI 140, but do admit I've come down with the case of "senioritis" where I've taken a more laid back approach towards my classes. When I started, I wrote everything down, carried my books everywhere and was always 2 weeks ahead of assignments, but now ... not so much. No worries, though, I will not allow myself to slip.

I'm looking forward to spending Christmas with my family and future in-laws ... can't wait for everyone to open their gifts. I'm a HUGE picture-taker and will take lots of them for sure, on Christmas day.

Until next year ... Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!
