About Me

My name is Candace Brunt currently in college pursuing my bachelor's degree at Robert Morris University. My major is in the business and management field. I believe that I am a very individualistic person, who has a gift for figuring out how people who are different can work together productively. My expected graduation date is February 2011. The reason why I decided to major in the business and administration field is because I'm driven by my talents, and I can constantly investigate the how's, and why's, of a given situation which would be very beneficial to not only myself, but other people who want to work in the world of business.I am a very futuristic individual I'm definitely inspired by the future and what it could be. I know that because I am driven by my talents, my goals, and aspirations motivate me to keep moving forward.

Heart of Darkness Story
More...

                                 Heart of Darkness
Not too long ago in my English 310 class we were asked to do a paper on the story Heart of Darkness. I must say that I really enjoyed reading the story because Iíve come to learn that a certain degree of darkness is within every person, but darkness will not surface unless given the correct environment. The reason is because darkness can emerge and ultimately destroy a person if not checked by reason. Another reason is because if oneís inner darkness does surface, then the victim is given the opportunity to reach a point in personal growth, and gain a sense of self-knowledge from it. In the story Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad the theme that Iím going to discuss is going to be about evil. The reason is because as I was reading the story I got a visual on how Marlow journeys into his ultimate evil, inner self, became kind of a positive experience for him.
To begin with, Iíve come to learn that at the beginning of the story Marlow begins his descent into the Congo, which presented a dark image of death and suffering. Also, Iíve come to learn that the capacity for evil in the jungle is continuous. For example, it states that ďIt was a thing which looked as dead as the carcass of some strange animal. I came upon more pieces of decaying machinery, and a stack of rusty rails. To the left a clump of trees in a twisted shady spot, the ground shook.Ē (Conrad) Finally, this goes to show how evil the natives were when they get mad and start killing the animals.
Secondly, Iíve come to learn that Marlow struggles, but by realizing his potential for good, managers to contain his evil. However, Iíve come to learn that the result of this was not the same for many others. For example, Marlow states that ďI donít know how this would have struck others but to me the evil was unspeakable, but not undefeatable.Ē (Conrad) Iíve come to learn that the Congo and the lack of restraints it represents causes one to lose common sense, and the power of the mind in most cases is no match for the lack of order and the lack of reason for most of the Congo resident. Finally, Iíve come to learn that another character in the Heart of Darkness by the name of Kurtz became a victim to this and his mind became extremely deteriorated due to the lack of order.
Finally, Iíve come to learn that Kurtz in the story Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad can be viewed as the character in the story who doesnít attempt to take lifeís challenges and at length his dark fate. The reason is because Marlowís first view of Kurtz shows how the goodness and evil fail to co-exist together. What I found very interesting about Kurtz is the fact that the ongoing evil growing in him was not only a result of the jungle, but it was shown through as well.
In conclusion, hopefully you got a better understanding on how I discuss how the theme evil relates to the story Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and some of the characters in it. The reason is because as I was reading the story I got a visual on how Marlow journeys into his ultimate evil, inner self, became kind of a positive experience for him. Iíve come to learn that Marlow struggles, but by realizing his potential for good, managers to contain his evil. Also hopefully, you got a better understanding on how Kurtz in the story Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad can be viewed as the character in the story who doesnít attempt to take lifeís challenges and at length his dark fate.

My Personal Biography as a College Student
myblogpic3 myblogpic1 myblogpic2

My name is Candace Brunt, and I am currently in college going for my bachelorís degree.  My major is in the business and management field. I am a very individualistic person who has a gift for figuring out how people who are different can work together productively. Also, because I am driven by her talents, I can constantly investigate the ďhowísĒ, and ďwhyísĒ of a given situation which would be very beneficial to not only myself, but other people who want to work in the world of business.
To begin with, in 10 years from now I hope to use my talents by being a strong leader by helping to build and inspire my colleagues by creating interactions that they feel that their opinions are being heard in solving conflicts in the world of business. I know that because I am a very futuristic individual I am inspired by the future and what it could be. When I go out into the real world the people that I would like target in my brand community would have to be the teachers and staff at Robert Morris University. The reason is because Iíve learned so much form the teachers and staff at Robert Morris University about management, and the things that Iíve learned can be beneficial to me to help me get ahead than others.
This is a very competitive world, and what I believe to be the most difficult thing for me would have to be my peers who are all working very hard trying to earn a degree that would later pay off in life. However, because I am a futuristic person I know that my life has a deep meaning and purpose. The reason is because my goals and aspirations motivate me to keep moving forward, and to get my bachelorís degree in the business field or even my masterís. Itís so funny to me, because the tension that I feel when a deadline is fast approaching forces me to concentrate on the right activities, discard irrelevant information, and not waste time on intriguing distractions.
Finally, I think that my good intellectual skills are keeping me ahead at Robert Morris University. The reason is because when it comes down to doing class assignments and projects, I am very adept to getting different assignments done and on time. I know that as a college student and because of my strength I am definitely aware of my limitations and deficiencies. The reason is because it motivates me to take advantage of self-improvement opportunities in the workplace, educational settings, and my environment. Also, as a student I know that I am capable of accomplishing more than what Iím doing now.
In conclusion, when I finally walk across the stage and receive my bachelorís degree from Robert Morris University the one thing that I would like to take away from this me being an achiever. The reason is because I am a very individualistic person who just chooses to do what is assigned to me each and every day. Also I would admit that there are things that I could do better in, but because I act on these ideas I most likely will increase my chances of meeting the day-to-day expectations people place on me.
