The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) of 2008 focused attention on communicating aid offers to prospective students with the goal of helping families make informed decisions about college. The HEOA also required the Department of Education to develop and distribute a model aid offer format to institutions. The legislation and conference report language give additional details.
The Financial Aid Shopping Sheet is a consumer tool that participating institutions will use to notify students about their financial aid package. It is a standardized form that is designed to simplify the information that prospective students receive about costs and financial aid so that they can easily compare institutions and make informed decisions about where to attend school. Certain schools, like Robert Morris University, which have committed to participating in the Department of Education/ Department of Veterans Affairs' Principles of Excellence Program will begin using this form during the 2013-2014 academic year.
After applying for admission at Robert Morris University and completing your financial aid form (FAFSA) online, the Financial Aid Office will prepare a financial aid package for you. You will be notified via email and/or phone that your Financial Aid Shopping Sheet is available for viewing online on MyRMU or in person with an Admissions representative.
