Congratulations on choosing to become an RMU student!
The First Year Experience at Robert Morris focuses on giving first year students the resources and support needed to successfully transition into college. By learning about university resources and people on campus, as well as participating in special activities and meetings, students will experience both academic and personal success!
Prior to beginning the first year at RMU, students go through an introduction to the University. Students mix and mingle, create their academic schedule, meet with advising staff and orientation leaders, and learn what to expect in and outside of the classroom.
Students are assigned an academic, financial aid, and career advisor who will work with them individually to ensure they are on track with their courses, are able to secure funding for college, and are getting the preparation needed to secure jobs in their fields.
Freshman faculty are hand-selected by the Deans because of their exemplary teaching records and support for first-year students. They are some of the most highly qualified and experienced faculty at RMU! They provide the support needed to help students adjust to college-level learning.
Starting college is a significant step towards a successful career. This course provides a foundation for academic and professional development as students build on strategies to support the transition into college, consider career options, and develop an understanding for expectations in professional environments.
Students are matched with upperclassmen to welcome them to the University and to serve as a resource as they transition into RMU.
RMU provides students with many opportunities to obtain valuable experience and obtain skills that enhance their personal and professional lives. Students who are part of a student club or organization gain skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, organization, and time management. Check out robertmorris.edu/clubs to learn more!
