Center for Higher Education Studies

The Center for Higher Education Studies is responsible for the development, administration, and evaluation of professional development programs and serves as the liaison between the program participants, facilitators, and the Office of the President.

Foundation Programs

Early Insights
The Early Insights program provides the essential knowledge and skills that promising employees need to become managers and team leaders. The program focuses on the development of personal competencies and an understanding of Robert Morris College systems.

Management Institute
The Management Institute program provides opportunities for new and developing managers and other high-potential employees to enhance their capabilities while optimizing their contributions to the College.

Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy explores leadership as a strategic tool in anticipating and creating future opportunities for the College.

Teaching Institute
The Teaching Institute advances applied teaching and learning through recognition, integration, and enrichment of the diverse contributions of all faculty through EDU 311, Faculty Methods, and RMC Dialogues.

Management Programs

Leading with Confidence and Influence
The Leading with Confidence and Influence program is for individuals who would like to enhance their communication and presentation skills in order to deliver confident, clear, and consistent communication that positively reflects on the individual and the institution.

Management Excellence
The Management Excellence program assists managers in the development of managerial confidence and skills through workshops that discuss leadership, communication, results, resources, and performance management.

Topics in Leadership & Creative Thinking
The Topics in Leadership & Creative Thinking program develops individual creative management and leadership styles through personal reflection, assigned readings, and peer feedback.

Creative Problem Solving
The Creative Problem Solving program immerses participants in various creative fields to inspire innovation.  Participants will engage in onsite and offsite experiences that stretch the mind and promote creative thought.

Specialized Programs

Administrative Excellence
The Administrative Excellence Program is for administrative professionals who would like to further develop their customer service, organization, and project management skills in order to meet the demands of internal and external customers.

Enrollment Management Development
The Enrollment Management Development program educates high-potential enrollment management staff members on the admissions process and prepares individuals for leadership opportunities within the department.

Financial Controls
The Financial Controls program provides the essential knowledge and skills to prepare and develop promising employees into leadership roles within the accounting and financial services departments.

Managing Information
The Managing Information program prepares employees to read, analyze, and interpret information in order to make strategic decisions.  Participants are exposed to fundamental theories of managing information and technology.

Teaching Institute Fellow
The Teaching Institute Fellow program enriches the strengths and talents of exceptional faculty through participation in project development, peer mentoring, and scholarly exchange to meet the growing needs of the College community.

Open Enrollment Programs

Public Relations
The Public Relations Program provides general knowledge about the field of public relations and its application to Robert Morris College.

CHES 411
The CHES 411 workshops are open to any staff or faculty members who would like to enhance their managerial and administrative contributions and leverage their non-teaching competencies at the College. The sessions are one-hour in length.  Topics will vary from quarter to quarter and include: Organization, E-mail Prose, Priorities, Delegation, and Successful Customer Service.
