Supplemental Instruction

What is Supplemental Instruction (SI)?

  • SI offers additional academic assistance in courses with a high rate of D, F, or W grades
  • Assistance is in the form of a peer study group or SI session
  • The SI session has a facilitator, the SI Leader
  • SI Leader has successfully completed the course and actively participates in class as a model student
  • SI sessions are twice a week for an hour, Week 2-9, or students may discuss an alternative schedule with SI Leader
  • SI sessions are free
  • SI participants receive higher grades than those who do not attend SI sessions
