Mark Moore enters his second season at the helm as Head Women’s Volleyball coach at Robert Morris in Springfield, IL with lofty ambitions of not only improving over their 2007 season, but advancing to the USCAA National Championships in Ft. Wayne, IN.

Moore, a Jerseyville High School and University of Illinois graduate, spent the 2006 fall as the Head Girl’s Volleyball Coach at Riverton High School.  The previous season he served as an Assistant Coach for the Springfield College in Illinois volleyball program.  Coach Moore was also an Assistant at Lutheran High School the season before that, when the Crusaders reached the Class A Elite Eight.  Coach Moore has worked on the coaching staff for the Spike Force Volleyball Club the past eight years.

Coach Moore assisted with the Lutheran program in the late 1990s, after which he served as Head Coach for three seasons (1999-2001) at Waverly High School.  The Scotties set a school record for victories in 2000 when they went 25-6, won the Class A Regional Title, and Coach Moore was named Journal Courier Coach of the Year.  He was also the Head Coach at MacMurray College, an NCAA Division III program, in 2002.

Coach Moore’s first coaching stint came in the early 1990s, when he was an assistant for four years at Southeast high School.

Moore works full time for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services.  He has been playing volleyball for the past 16 years and currently plays for a men’s club team in St. Louis.

Becky Phillips, a native of Springfield, IL, enters her second season as assistant coach for the Lady Eagles of Robert Morris.  Having been involved and participated in volleyball for 30 years, Becky brings a wealth of experience and credibility to the court.  Coach Phillips attended Sacred Heart Griffen High School and competed for SHG at the state tournament.  After her prep career, Becky played her collegiate ball for SIU-E (Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville) where she helped the Cougars gain national recognition while earning her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. 

"We are very excited to add another quality coach to our volleyball program.  Coach Phillips has coached at every level of volleyball competition; from elementary through college and club to high school, I believe this wealth of experience will pay dividends to the Eagles program and we are excited to have Becky on staff," stated Associate Athletic Director Chris Ryan.

Coach Phillips works at Our Saviour School in Jacksonville, IL teaching Kindergarten.  She is married to Paul Phillips, who is serving our country in Iraq, and has a stepdaughter, Courtney, who currently is a sophomore playing volleyball for Routt Catholic High School.
