The Eagles women's soccer team won both of their games at the St. Ambrose
University Tournament over the weekend defeating host St.
Ambrose University
3-2 on Saturday and Region VII rival Grand
View College
2-0 on Sunday. Although the Eagles won both games, they took second place
in the tournament losing out to CCAC rival and #9 rated St. Xavier University on goal differential.
With a new line up and a new attitude, the Eagles came out hard on Saturday
versus St. Ambrose University
and created chances from the opening whistle. However, St. Ambrose caught
the Eagles in a counter attack minutes in and forward Denise Absil placed a
shot in the lower left corner catching Eagles goalkeeper Lisa Lundquist flat
footed for a 1-0 lead. The Eagles maintained the pressure and freshman
midfielder Linda Mathisen almost tied the game when her long range shot hit the
top of the cross bar. Minutes later St. Ambrose once again caught the Eagles on
a counter and junior Amanda Wilford fired a shot into the far right corner for
a 2-0 lead. The Eagles still never gave up and continued to mount
pressure and were rewarded in the 31st minute when midfielder Mavis
Danso (Jr / Accra, Ghana) scored off of a Lori Thomson (So / East Lansing, MI) assist
to cut the lead to 2-1. The Eagles struck again minutes later when Danso
played a brilliant ball over the top of the defense to a streaking Maria Shipe
(So / Bexley, OH) who rifled a right footed shot in the corner to tie the game
at 2-2. The Eagles quickly struck in the second half when Shipe once
again broke through the Ambrose defense only to be dragged down for a penalty
kick. Danso stepped up and fired the shot home for the 3-2 lead and her
team leading 7th goal of the season. Goalkeeper Lisa Lundquist
(Sr / Rockford, IL) made four saves to preserve the victory
and the Eagles out shot St. Ambrose 18-6 on the day including four breakaways
that were thwarted by goalkeeper Tootsie Maus.
On Sunday, the Eagles came out with the same intensity and pressure against
Region VII rival Grand
View College.
The Eagles attacked the Viking goal for the first fifteen minutes but could not
find the back of the net. This pressure would continue for the majority
of the first half but the score would remain 0-0 at the break. The Eagles
broke the deadlock in the 59th minute when Mavis Danso chipped a
pass over the Grand View backline to Linda Mathisen (Fr / Trondheim, Norway)
who in turn lofted a shot over the goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. Mathisen
would strike again just three minutes later when sweeper Regan Chester (Fr / Rockford, IL)
made a brilliant run with the ball out of the back. Chester beat four Grand View defenders and
then played a cross to Maria Shipe who knocked it back to Mathisen who fired a
left footed shot into the lower corner. Eagles goalkeeper Lisa Lundquist
made four saves to earn her first career shutout at RMC. The Eagles out
shot Grand View 13-6 on the day to raise their record to 3-1-1.
The Eagles continue CCAC Conference play on Saturday, September 16th
against long-time CCAC rival St.
Xavier University.
St. Xavier enters the game rated #9 in the NAIA National Poll. Game time
is at 6:00 P.M. and will be held at the Eagles new home field at Redmond
Athletic Complex located at 735 East Jefferson in Bensenville.

Robert Morris College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Kurt Melcher

Regan Chester is expected to provide an immediate impact to the Eagles
backline and/or midfield unit for years to come. “Regan is feisty
player that is as tough as they come,†stated Associate Head Coach Tom
Czop. “She will not back down to anyone and she is very composed on
the ball as well.†Regan was a stand out player at Guilford High
School and was named to the IHSSCA All-Sectional Team during her junior year in
2005. She would have been an all-state candidate this spring but decided
to train and play with the Sockers FC club team playing against the likes of
the University of Iowa and Iowa
State University.
“We’re glad to continue our relationship with the Dactyl program
and extremely excited about adding a player of Regan’s quality,â€

EAGLES ADD NSCAA HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICAN SHIPE TO
THE MIX

impact to the Eagles midfield unit as the team lost both starting outside
midfielders to graduation. Melcher stated, “Maria is a great pick
up for our program. She is a hardworking, energetic midfielder that has a
tremendous pace on the outside.†Maria was a four year varsity
starter at Bexley High School where she was named to the NSCAA All-America team
and scored 50 career goals. In addition, Shipe was 1st Team
All-State and was the Ohio Central District Player of the Year and Mid-State

tournament appearance,†Melcher said. “I expect her to fill in
the void at outside midfield due to graduation and make an immediate impact on
our team. The coaching staff is excited to add her into the mix.â€

EAGLES ADVANCE TO THEIR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT!

Trinity Christian College

The Eagles defeated #23 rated Trinity
Christian College
3-2 in overtime in the NAIA Region VII Championship game to advance to its
fourth consecutive NAIA National Tournament. Trinity Christian opened up the
scoring early in the game for a 1-0 lead when the Eagles defense left two Trinity
Christian players wide open in front of their goal against goalkeeper Fati
Mohammed. The Eagles struck back on a free kick when senior Elizabeth Baidu
fired home the shot to knot the game at 1-1. This goal was Baidu's 16th of the
season. The Eagles controlled the majority of the half at this point but
another defensive lapse saw Trinity Christian dump the ball into the Eagles
penalty box and both teams battled for the loose ball. Unfortunately for the
Eagles the ball bounced in front of Trinity Christian forward Jessica
Eenigenburg who buried the shot from eight yards out for a 2-1 lead. The second
half saw the Eagles pushing forward for the tying goal in a steady rain but
were unable to connect until the 78th minute. At this time senior forward Basilea
Amoah-Tetteh beat a Trinity Christian defender out wide and sent a beautiful
cross to the back post to an unmarked Alberta Sackey. Sackey calmy placed the
ball into the corner of the goal for a 2-2 tie. This was Sackey's 9th goal of
the year and second in as many days. Both teams had chances toward the end of
regulation to seal the victory but the game remianed tied and went to overtime.
Trinity Christian almost ended the game seconds into overtime but Eagles
goalkeeper Fati Mohammed made a strong save on the Trinity Christian shot.
After the save, Mohammed made an outlet throw to senior Sara Mussell who in
turn played a long ball down the line trying to find Sackey. A Trinity
Christian defender slipped on the play and Sackey received the ball and in turn
played a brilliant through ball to Amoah-Tetteh. Amoah-Tetteh outran a Trinity
Christian defender and placed a perfect shot over the onrushing goalkeeper's
head and into the goal for the 3-2 victory and the berth to the NAIA National
Tournament. The goal was Amoah-Tetteh's team leading 20th of the season. The
Eagles are now 12-2 all-time in NAIA Region VII play with their last loss
coming in 2001.
The Eagles will now participate in their fourth consecutive NAIA National
Tournament which begins on Wednesday, November 16th and runs until Tuesday,
November 22nd. The seedings and pairings will be announced on Thursday,

NAIA Region VII Semi-final. Aftre weathering a fierce attack by Trinity
International in the opening minutes, the Eagles struck first in the 8th minute

goal was set up from some beauiful combination play from Sackey, senior Basilea
Amoah-Tetteh, and sophomore Mavis Danso. The Eagles struck again in the 43rd
minute just before the break when senior Whitney Didier won a ball at midfield
and sent a long ball to Amoah-Tetteh. Amoah-Tetteh muscled herself around a TIU
defender and then dribbled around TIU goalkeeper Allison Budden to easily slot
home an empty netter for a 2-0 lead. The Eagles added to their lead in the 58th
minute when sophomore Mavis Danso headed a TIU clearance to a running Sackey
for a breakaway. Sackey calmly slotted home the goal for an Eagles 3-0 lead.

Keckeisen hammered home a shot from the top of the box off of a corner kick to
cut the lead to 3-1. The Eagles held TIU scoreless the rest of the way for the
3-1 victory and advance to the NAIA Region VII Championship game for the fifth

2-0 in the semi-final round of the CCAC Conference Tournament. A strong
performance by sophomore goalkeeper Fati Mohammed kept the Eagles in a 0-0 tie
through half-time. In the 52nd minute, Trinity International took a 1-0
lead when a Trinity International player, Eagles midfielder Glory Taylor, and
Mohammed all collided going after a loose ball and the ball ended up in the back
of the goal. The Eagles had a great chance to tie the game when senior
forward Basilea Amoah-Tetteh found herself on breakaway but Trinity
International's goalkeeper Allison Budden made a great save smothering the ball
as Amoah-Tetteh tried to dribble around her. Trinity International put the
game away in the 79th minute on a penalty kick after sophomore defender Lauren
Cooper fouled a Trinity International player in the penalty box. The loss

backs. The Eagles had their counter attack chances though and missed three
breakaways in the first half alone. The missed opportunities continued for the
Eagles as they went on to miss four more breakaways in the second half and
overtime sessions. The Eagles also caught their breaks as seniors Glory Taylor

The 12th rated women's soccer team lost their first CCAC Conference game of
the season yesterday to rival St.
Xavier University
1-0. In a very lackluster performance by the Eagles, sophomore goalkeeper Fati
Mohammed made fourteen saves in keeping the Eagles in a scoreless tie until the
80th minute. In the 80th minute St. Xavier broke the deadlock when a
Cougar player dribbled uncontested through the midfield and hit a twenty yard
shot into the corner of the goal. The Eagles had their chances as well forcing
the St. Xavier goalkeeper to make eleven saves. Senior Elizabeth Baidu had the
Eagles best scoring chance with a one on one with the Cougar goalkeeper but her
shot was saved. The loss marks the first time the Eagles have lost a regular
season CCAC Conference game since the 2000 season which is also the last time
the Eagles have lost to St. Xavier University.
The Eagles overall record falls to 8-4-1 and their CCAC record is now 5-1.
The Eagles still have a chance to make noise in the CCAC when they take
on Trinity International University
on Saturday, October 8th. Game time is at 11:30 A.M. and will be held at

Trinity International, and St. Xavier.

regained the lead in the 37th minute after a great individual effort by senior

and scored her second goal of the game and her seventh of the season. Just
before the break Trinity Christian evened the game again on a forty yard free
kick that caught Eagles goalkeeper Fati Mohammed off guard. Both teams were
unable to score in the second half or in the first overtime but both had their
chances. Eagles forward Amoah-Tetteh missed a breakaway in the closing seconds
of the game and Trinity Christian had a shot hit the post in the first
overtime. Five minutes into the second overtime senior Alberta Sackey fired a

The Eagles women's soccer team made a strong showing at the Lindsey Wilson College
Kelme Classic featuring three of the NAIA's top four teams. On Friday, the
Eagles defeated #4 rated Lee
University 2-1 in overtime. Lee University
wasted little time as they jumped on the board in the 8th minute for a 1-0
lead. The Eagles answered right back five minutes later when Sara Mussell
found Basilea Amoah-Tetteh streaking down the line. Amoah-Tetteh then beat
two Lee defenders and calmly tucked the ball past the Lee goalkeeper to even
the game at 1-1. Both teams had their chances in regulation to take the
lead with the Eagles Amoah-Tetteh missing two breakaway chances and sophomore
goalkeeper Fati Mohammed making 6 saves in an outstanding performance. In
addition, the Eagles backline of senior Elizabeth Baidu and freshmen Anne
Meshes and Kelly Travers made half-time adjustments and neutralized a potent
Lee attack. Five minutes into overtime the Eagles were awarded a free kick
and Elizabeth Baidu scored the game winner. Lee University
outshot the Eagles 15-10. On Saturday night, the Eagles ran into an even a
tougher opponent in #1 rated and defending NAIA National
Champions Lindsey
Wilson College. Lindsey
Wilson lost their first home game in 35 games the night before to #2 rated Azusa Pacific
University (CA) and had a
large and boisterous crowd behind them. The Eagles played a defensive game
trying to contain an explosive Lindsey Wilson offense and the game plan worked
for the majority of the game. Lindsey was forced into long range shots and
dumped crosses into the Eagles goal area where senior defender Elizabeth Baidu
and sophomore goalkeeper Fati Mohammed were able to take control. However
in the 34th minute, Lindsey Wilson got their opportunity as defender Elizabeth
Baidu slipped while chasing a ball in the Eagles penalty box. As a result,
a Lindsey forward won the race to the ball and was able to beat goalkeeper Fati
Mohammed as she was caught out of position due to Baidu slipping. The
Eagles were able to hold the score at 1-0 and had a goal dissallowed from an
offside call, but were unable to create any other dangerous scoring chances of
their own. This was an outstanding team effort for the Eagles the entire
weekend and showed the strides the team has made since opening the season
0-2. The Eagles overall record now stands at 6-3-1 and their CCAC
Conference record is at 3-0.
The Eagles host CCAC Conference rival Olivet Nazarene
University on Wednesday,
September 28th. Game time is at 4:00 P.M. and will be held at UIC Flames
Field. The Eagles will then host CCAC foe Trinity Christian
College on Saturday,
October 1st with kick off scheduled for 12:00 P.M.

The #20 rated women's soccer team defeated CCAC foe Cardinal Stritch
University last night
7-0. The Eagles controlled the play from the opening whistle and had constant
pressure on the Cardinal Stritch goal. In the 24th minute, senior Glory Taylor put the Eagles on the board with her second goal of
the season off of assists from sophomore Mavis Danso and fellow senior Alberta
Sackey. Five minutes later senior Sara Mussell put the Eagles up 2-0 with
a twenty yard shot over the Stritch goalkeeper. With only two minutes left
in the first half, the Eagles struck again when Danso found Alberta Sackey in front of the Stritch goal
with a pass and Sackey beat the goalkeeper for a 3-0 lead at the
break. The Eagles came out firing again in the second half when senior
Misty Hale was fouled for a penalty kick just two minutes into the
half. Senior Elizabeth Baidu fired home the penalty kick for her fourth
goal of the season. Sackey then made it 4-0 in the 60th minute when she
easily slotted home a goal after senior Basilea Amoah-Tetteh beat two defenders
to set Sackey up with a one on one with the Stritch goalkeeper. In the
70th minute, Amoah-Tetteh got a goal of her own off of an assist from Mussell
to up the lead to 6-0. The Eagles added a seventh goal with less than a
minute to play when Misty Hale fired home a shot off of an assist from senior
Whitney Didier. Sophomore goalkeeper Fati Mohammed made five saves in
route to her first shutout of 2005.
The Eagles will be tested this weekend as they travel to Columbia, Kentucky
to take part in the Lindsey Wilson College Kelme Classic. On Friday, the #20
rated Eagles take on #4 rated Lee
University at 5:00
P.M. The Eagles will then face off against 2004 NAIA National Champion and
the currently #1 rated Lindsey Wilson
College at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday. Also participating but not playing the

The #25 rated Eagles women's soccer team tied the #16 rated College of St. Mary 2-2 on Sunday. College of St. Mary struck first in the battle of
NAIA Top 25 teams in the 33rd minute to take a 1-0 lead and it looked like that
lead would hold up until half-time. However, with less than thirty seconds left
in the half senior Elizabeth Baidu played a long ball over the top of the St.
Mary defense. Senior Basilea Amoah-Tetteh beat the goalkeeper to the ball and
calmly placed it into an empty net to tie the game at 1-1 with twenty seconds
left in the half. This was Amoah-Tetteh's fourth goal of the season. In the
62nd minute, freshman defender Anne Meshes was ejected from the game on a last
man foul just outside the Eagles penalty box forcing the team to play
shorthanded for the rest of the game. St. Mary scored on the free kick and took
a 2-1 lead. The shorthanded Eagles turned the momentum at this point and
pressured St. Mary's goal. In the 72nd minute Baidu played another great ball
over the St. Mary defense and senior Alberta Sackey knocked the ball over an on
rushing goalkeeper and into the goal to tie the game at 2-2. The goal was
Sackey's fourth of the season. The Eagles continued the pressure and missed
several breakaway attempts during regulation and overtime. The Eagles almost
ended the game in the first minute of overtime but a Baidu free kick attempt
bounced off of the cross bar. Eagles goalkeeper Fati Mohammed played a strong
game making fourteen saves and both teams had twenty shot attempts during the
game.
The Eagles travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday, September 20th to take on CCAC foe Cardinal Stritch University.
Game time is at 5:00 P.M. and will be held at Uihlein Soccer Complex. The
Eagles will then travel to Columbia, Kentucky for a weekend tournament matching up against #4
rated Lee University
on Friday and #1 rated Lindsey

The 25th rated women's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games
with a 5-1 victory over CCAC opponent Judson College
last night. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when senior Misty
Hale headed in a rebound off of an Eagles shot that was saved by the Judson
goalkeeper. The Eagles continued to pressure the Judson goal and were rewarded
in the 29th minute when senior Basilea Amoah-Tetteh finished a one on one of an
assist from fellow senior Glory Taylor.
The Eagles opened the second half with a chance to open the lead up but senior Alberta Sackey missed a
penalty kick chance wide of the goal. In the 61st minute, senior Elizabeth
Baidu upped the Eagles lead to 3-0 when she fired a shot in from 22 yards out
off of a brilliant head flick from sophomore Mavis Danso. Baidu struck again
two minutes later when Sackey played a through ball to a streaking Baidu who
fired a left footed shot into the corner for a 4-0 lead. The Eagles added a
fifth goal in the 71st minute when an Amoah-Tetteh shot deflected off of a
Judson defender and into the corner of the goal. Judson ruined sophomore
goalkeeper Fati Mohammed's bid for a shut out in the 85th minute by scoring off
of a corner kick. The victory raises the Eagles overall record to 4-2 and their
CCAC Conference record to 2-0. The Eagles next game will be on Sunday,

The Eagles women's soccer team won their third game in a row
defeating CCAC foe the Illinois Institute of Technology 4-1 to raise its record
to 3-2. The Eagles dominated play throughout the game but were unable to
capitalize on their numerous chances until the 22nd minute. In the 22nd minute
senior Basilea Amoah-Tetteh scored her first goal of the year on an assist from
Alberta Sackey. Three minutes later Sackey added a goal of her own on a
beautiful assist from senior Sara Mussell. The goal was Sackey's third of the
season. The Eagles continued to pressure the IIT goal in the second half but
were unable to put the game away. Then in the 74th minute, an Eagles defender
pulled down an IIT forward in the Eagles penalty box resulting in a penalty
kick for IIT. IIT calmly finished their chance and cut the lead to 2-1. The
Eagles finally put the game away in the final seven minutes with sophomore
Johanna Gomez scoring on a breakaway with assists from Amoah-Tetteh and
freshman Anne Meshes and freshman Lori Thomson scoring her first collegiate
goal on an assist from Mavis Danso. The Eagles outshot IIT 23-7.

The Eagles women's soccer team rebounded from last weekend with a 2-1
victory over Region VII rival Grand
View College.
The Eagles had a golden opportunity five minutes into the game when senior Alberta Sackey was
dragged down for a penalty kick. Sophomore Mavis Danso shot attempt was saved
by the Grand View goalkeeper and Grand View immediately countered the Eagles.
Eagles goalkeeper Fati Mohammed attempted to clear a Grand View through ball on
the counter attack but her clearance hit an oncoming Grand View player and
bounced around Mohammed. The Grand View player beat Mohammed to the ball and
slotted the ball into an empty goal for a 1-0 lead. The Eagles evened the game
in the 15th minute when freshman Anne Meshes scored on an Eagles free kick.
This was Meshes' first collegiate goal. Seven minutes later the Eagles took a
2-1 lead when Alberta Sackey found senior
Glory Taylor with a through ball and Taylor beat the Grand
View goalkeeper to the ball and put it in the back of the net for her first
goal of the year. The Eagles continued the pressure throughout the first half
but were unable to capitalize. The Eagles outshot Grand View 14-5 for the game
and freshman Lori Thomson had a shot ricochet off of the underside of the cross
bar and bounce out. Grand View came into the game rated #2 in Region VII while

The Eagles started the season out in unfamiliar fashion dropping their
first two games of 2005 to Aquinas College and Lindenwood
University before defeating John Brown
University in overtime.
The Eagles had chances to put the first two games away early but failed to
capitalize on their chances. The Eagles found themselves behind Aquinas
3-1 late in the game but roared back with goals from Alberta Sackey and Mavis Danso in a matter
of two minutes. After tying the game the Eagles missed several more
opportunities including three missed breakaways and a free kick that rebounded
off of the cross bar. The first Eagles goal was scored by sophomore Rachel
Sparkman. The Eagles continued their lack of finishing in their second
game against Lindenwood by missing three clear cut chances in the game's first
twenty minutes. Lindenwood took advantage and scored a goal with five
minutes left in the first half and scored again five minutes into the second
half before adding a third in the final minute of the game. On Monday, the
Eagles struck first against John Brown in the 13th minute when freshman Lori
Thomson fought for a loose ball and found Elizabeth Baidu alone in front of the
goal for a 1-0 lead. John Brown answered right back in the 21st minute to
tie it at 1-1. Both teams showed tired legs playing their third game in
four days and the game went to overtime. The Eagles wasted little time, as
in the third minute sophomore Johanna Gomez won a head ball that sent Alberta Sackey one on
one with the goalkeeper. Sackey's first shot was saved but she easily
slotted in her rebound for the Eagles first win of the year.
The Eagles next game will be on Friday, September 9th against region
rival Grand View College.
Game time is at 4:00 P.M. and will be held at UIC Flames Field located at:

KELLY TRAVERS CHOOSES THE EAGLES FOR 2005
Robert Morris College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Kurt Melcher announced
today the signing of defender / midfielder Kelly Travers of Irondale High
School in Minnesota.
Kelly Travers is the second defender signed this spring by the Eagles and she
is expected to provide an immediate impact to the team’s defensive
scheme. The Eagles lost their three-time All-American sweeper Kulu Yahaya and
All-Region marking back Sladja Jesic to graduation and are looking for Kelly to
fill one of those voids. Melcher stated, “Kelly reads the game very
well and should fit nicely into our defensive scheme,†stated Head Coach
Kurt Melcher. “She is a natural leader and she should help in our
goal of winning our fifth consecutive conference title and qualifying for our
fourth straight NAIA National Tournament.†Kelly plays club ball for
the Twin Cities Fire Premier out of the Minneapolis / St. Paul area and
participated in the 2004 Midwest Region II Championships in Rockford, Illinois.
She was a four year starter at sweeper for Irondale High School
where she was a two-time captain, an all-conference and all-sectional
selection, and team most valuable player. Kelly is also captain of her
high school track team.
The Eagles went 24-1 last season, advanced to the “Final Fourâ€
of the NAIA National Tournament, and finished the year rated #2 in the final
NAIA National Poll. The team also won their fourth consecutive Chicagoland
Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) title and third straight NAIA Region VII
championship.

EAGLES SIGN MESHES AND THOMSON FOR 2005
Robert Morris College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Kurt Melcher announced
today the signing of defender / midfielder Anne Meshes of Rockford Boylan
Catholic High School and midfielder Lori Thomson of East Lansing High
School in Michigan.
Anne Meshes is expected to provide an immediate impact to the Eagles defensive
scheme as the team lost their three-time All-American sweeper Kulu Yahaya and
All-Region marking back Sladja Jesic to graduation. Melcher stated, “Anne
is a huge pick up for our program. Having lost two of our top defenders to
graduation, we expect Anne to step in and fill one of those voids for
us.†Anne also comes from the Rockford
Dactyls soccer program that has gained national prestige over the
years. “Having played in the Dactyls soccer program, Anne has the
experience and background needed to succeed at the collegiate level right
away,†Melcher said. “Her work ethic and commitment to the game
are some of the most exciting things she brings outside of her soccer
ability. I expect her to make an immediate impact on our
team.†Anne joins former Boylan Catholic players Rachel Sparkman
(2004), Whitney Didier (2002), and Lisa Lundquist (2002) at Robert Morris
College.
Lori Thomson is another player that should make an immediate impact
competing for a starting job in an already strong Eagles midfield. Lori comes
from a strong club background playing for CA United in Lansing, Michigan and that
experience will make her transition to the college game an easy one. Lori
helped CA United qualify for the Super Clubs National Tournament that will be
held in July at Disney World in Orlando, Florida and also was an all-state
selection at East Lansing High School (Mich) in 2004. “Lori is a
very strong technical player that is very smart with the ball. Her
technical and tactical sense will combine well with our current roster players
and she should make an immediate impact on our team,†stated Associate Head
Coach Tom Czop. “I have seen her play a number of times and she has
the ability to dominate the midfield and create trouble for opposing teams with
her play making ability. She will be an anchor in our midfield for years
to come.â€
The Eagles went 24-1 last season, advanced to the “Final Fourâ€
of the NAIA National Tournament, and finished the year rated #2 in the final
NAIA National Poll. The team also won their fourth consecutive Chicagoland
Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) title and third straight NAIA Region VII
championship.

The women's soccer team advanced to their third consecutive NAIA National
Tournament after defeating St. Xavier University 5-1 and
Olivet Nazarene University
2-0 over the weekend. On Saturday, the Eagles pounded CCAC rival St. Xavier
University 5-1 in the NAIA Region VII
title game. St. Xavier came out with a game plan of physical play to deter
the Eagles offense and it worked for the first 25 minutes of the game. In
the 31st minute the Eagles offense got on the board when junior Sara Mussell
hit a shot from 30 yards out that found the top left corner of the goal for a
1-0 Eagles lead. Nine minutes later, junior Basilea Amoah-Tetteh scored
with a shot from 30 yards out as well for a 2-0 lead. The Eagles then added
another goal 55 seconds before half-time as junior Elizabeth Baidu played a
perfect ball for a breakaway for sophomore Patience Avre who put the Eagles up
3-0 at the break. In the 60th minute, Avre made a great individual run
down the left hand side of the field and found Amoah-Tetteh alone in front of
St. Xavier's goal for a 4-0 lead. In the 73rd minute, Baidu fired home a
free kick from 25 yards out to up the Eagles lead to 5-0. The Eagles
defense allowed only their 8th goal of the year in the 81st minute as St. Xavier
cut the margin to 5-1. Freshman goalkeeper Fati Mohammed made 4 saves in
the victory and the Eagles defense of Kulu Yahaya, Sladja Jesic, and Mavis
Danso contained St. Xavier's all-conference forward for the majority of the
game. The Eagles won their semi-final game versus Olivet Nazarene 2-0 on
Friday with freshman Lauren Cooper and junior Elizabeth Baidu scoring the Eagles
goals. Freshman goalkeeper Fati Mohammed made five saves in earning her
RMC record 14th shutout.
The Eagles now await the NAIA National Tournament pairings that will be
announced on Wednesday, November 10th. The tournament will run from
November 17th through November 23rd at Westmont
College in Santa Barbara, California. The
Eagles enter the tournament rated #2 in the final NAIA National Poll with a
perfect 22-0 record.
