Maida Habibovic Wallin was born in Tuzla, Bosnia and has been living in Chicago since 1994. She started rowing as a freshman in high school when she competed on Lincoln Park Juniors, a nationally competitive junior rowing program in Chicago. As a sophomore, Maida competed with the USRowing National Development Team and helped the team to a gold medal in the Junior 4 at USRowing Club Nationals. As a senior, Maida led the first Varsity 8 to their first appearance and a 7th place finish at USRowing Youth Nationals.
After high school, Maida went on to row at University of California, Los Angeles where she lettered for three years at the Pac-10 Championships. After completing her B.A. in English, she moved back to Chicago and started her coaching career as the Assistant Varsity Girl's Coach with LPJ Chicago and, most recently, was the Head Novice Girl's Coach.
Maida earned her Master's in Education from University of Dominican in River Forest, IL and now teaches for Chicago Public Schools. She is very excited to be a part of Robert Morris University athletics and looks forward to making RMU a rowing powerhouse in the Midwest!
