Coach Schappaugh has been active in the Springfield running community for several years having served as President, Vice President, Newsletter Editor, and Membership Director on the Springfield Road Runners Club Board of Directors. She has directed several races including Abe's Amble, Presidential 5K, Lincoln Memorial Half Marathon, and the Harvestfest races in Petersburg.
In 2002, Schappaugh was selected to coach one of two American teams competing in the 11th Japan Sea Rim Ekiden relay race in Niigata, Japan. She was a top female road runner from 1999-2005 in the Springfield area. She has also completed several marathons including Boston 2000, New York 2001, Memphis 2002, and the Marine Corps marathon in 2003.
Coach Schappaugh works for the State of Illinois within the Historical Preservation Agency in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum. Her profession is Information Technology but her passion has always been for teaching, coaching, and sports. She also serves as an assistant coach for the Robert Morris University women's basketball team.
A native of Havana, Illinois, Coach Schappaugh currently resides in Petersburg, Illinois with her four children, Jeff, Samantha, Timothy, and John.

Coach Thoroman will be assisting Coach Schappaugh with the Robert Morris University-Springfield Women's Cross Country squad this season. Coach Thoroman has been running cross country since 5th grade and participated in collegiate XC and Track & Field at his alma mater, Culver-Stockton College.
This past January, Ryan completed his first marathon at Walt Disney World and is currently training for his first ultramarathon (50 miles) this November! Running is a huge part of Ryan's life and one of his greatest passions. He is very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this new program and looking forward to a fun and challenging season.
