Eagles Finish 9th in Sectionals!

Four bowlers finish Top 50 in individuals!

St. Clair Bowl; Fairview Heights, IL – The Eagle Bowlers ended their season this past weekend with an impressive 9th place finish at the Fairview Heights Sectionals. In only their first year of competition, the Eagles finished ahead of established programs such as Michigan State, Missouri Baptist, and Grand Valley State.

The Eagles ended day one of competition with a total pinfall of 5251 after 32 Baker System games, landing them in 9th place. Based on second day totals alone, the Eagles finished in 7th. However, the overall two-day score is used to determine the final four teams who move on to the National Tournament. The Eagles combined two-day score over the course of 64 Baker games was 10,672. Thus, the Eagles sat at 9th place for a final ranking. The four teams from the Fairview Heights Sectionals moving on to the National Tournament are Wichita State, Morehead State, Ball State, and Purdue University.

The RMU bowlers also had the opportunity to compete as individuals. After six games, Robert Morris saw four of the six team members place in the Top 50:

This year’s young squad will return next year with the experience and enthusiasm needed for team competition. Coach Dale Lehman looks to double the size of the squad for the 2006-2007 team. Congratulations to Coach Lehman and the RMU Bowlers on a great season.

           


 RMU Bowlers head to Sectionals!

Eagles ranked #31 in the nation!

St. Clair Bowl; Fairview Heights, IL – In only their first year of competition, the Robert Morris Lady Eagle Bowlers are ranked #31 in the nation. This ranking includes all national associations with varsity bowling teams (NAIA, NCAA, NJCAA). Only the top 64 teams get a bid to sectionals. The field of 64 is split into four divisions across the country, and based on Team Ranking points earned throughout the season, Robert Morris has been placed at the Fairview Heights Sectional March 25-26. This sectional boasts the toughest field in the nation, as both the #1 and #3 ranked teams will compete here.

The Fairview Heights Sectional field of competition consists of Wichita State, Morehead State, Ball State, Purdue, Missouri Baptist, California-Davis, Michigan State, Robert Morris (Ill.), Minnesota State-Mankato, Wisconsin, Wisconsin-Platteville, Illinois State, Grand Valley State, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, and Winona State.

Over the next two days, the teams will compete in a total of 64 Baker System games. Baker games are organized so that each bowler in a team of five bowls two frames for one total team score. The top four teams based on total pinfall from each Sectional will advance to the 2006 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships scheduled for April 26-29 at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford, Ill.

The RMU bowlers will also have the opportunity to compete as individuals for a bid to the Singles Championships scheduled for May 21-23 at Olympic Lanes in Milwaukee. In order to qualify as a Single, each participant bowls six games. The top four finishers (highest total pinfall) from each division qualify.

       
Bowlers Finish 9th at Sectionals
The Lady Bowlers of RMU completed their 1st collegiate season with a 9th place finish at the Fairview Heights Sectionals. The Eagles (ranked 31st in the nation) had a 2 day total of 10,672 pins over the course of the 64 Baker games bowled. The four teams that advanced to the National Tournament were Wichita St., Morehead St., Ball State, and Purdue U. Four of RMU's bowlers placed in the top fifty as individuals. Meagan Sykes placed 24th, followed by Rachel Kerner (36th), Alissa Leight (42nd), and Jocelyn Bradley (44th). Congratulations to Coach Dale Lehman and the RMU Lady Bowlers on a very successful opening campaign and a very bright future!!!!!

RMU Bowlers To Compete at Fairview Heights
The RMU Lady Bowlers were placed in the Fairview Heights Sectional March 25-26. The #1 and #3 ranked teams in the nation are also competing at Fairview. This sectional boasts the toughest field in the nation with only the top 4 teams to advance to the National Finals. The Eagles in their 1st year of competition are currently ranked 31st in the nation.

Lady Bowlers Complete Regular Season
RMU Eagle Bowlers completed its 1st regular season with a 22nd place finish out of 30 teams at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis this past weekend. The tournament was a strong indicator of what the National Championships may look like in less than 2 months. The scores were tightly bunched from top to bottom with the country's very best teams competing. Kim Paulausky paced RMU with a 67th finish out of 179 bowlers. Meagan Sykes (71st), Rachel Kerner (85th), Jocelyn Bradley (109th), Rachel DeBoer (118th), and Alissa Leicht (167th) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. The Lady Bowlers will await the announcement (March 1) for their Sectional assignment. The Sectionals will be conducted on Sat/Sun March 25-26 either in St. Louis or Chatanooga,TN.

RMU Finishes 8th out of 14 at Dayton
The Lady Eagle Bowlers competed in the Eagle Classic in Dayton, Ohio this past weekend. Leading RMU was Meagan Sykes with a 34th finish out of 85 bowlers including a high game of 224. Alissa Leicht (40th), Kim Paulausky (49th), Jocelyn Bradley (54th), Rachel DeBoer (56th) including a high game of 236, and Rachel Kerner (64th) rounded out the scoring. The Lady Eagles are off until Feb 18-19 when they compete in the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, IN.

Bowlers Place 11th of 17 at Bearcat Open
RMU Eagles bowled in Cincinnati this past weekend placing 11th out 17 schools with 97 women competing. Rachel Kerner led the Eagles with a 16th place finish including a high game of 245. Kim Paulausky (26th) followed with a 227 high game. Jocelyn Bradley (29th) with a high game of 211, Meagan Sykes (41st) with a high game of 207, and Alissa Leicht (60th) rounded out the scoring for RMU. Next up for the Eagles is the Eagle Classic in Dayton, Ohio Jan 28-29.

Eagles Travel East
RMU Lady Bowlers traveled to New Jersey and Pennsylvania over the Holidays to compete in the 19th Annual Colgate Collegiate Invitational and Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic. At the Colgate Invitational RMU encountered some unusual lane conditions which accounted for an unusual subpar performance. Kim Paulausky finished 55th of 107 to pace the Eagles. She was followed by Jocelyn Bradley 65th, Rachel Kerner 68th, Rachel DeBoer 69th, Alissa Leicht 74th, and Alissa Leicht 83rd. At the Quaker Classic RMU improved tremendously. The Eagle Bowlers had the 4th high team game with a 945 series. Out of 94 bowlers Alissa Leicht finished 12th including 2nd high game with a 234 and 5th high series of 595. She was followed by Kim Paulausky 18th, Rachel Kerner 42nd, Meagan Sykes 53rd, and Jocelyn Bradley 57th. The Lady Bowlers will next compete Jan 14-15 at the Hoinke Bearcat Open in Cincinnati, OH.

Lady Bowlers Finish 9th at WIU Classic and Defeat Elmhurst at Home
RMU Bowlers traveled to Rock Island on Dec 3/4 to compete in the WIU Classic which featured 7 of the top teams in the nation. Rachel Kerner paced the Eagles by finishing 15th including a high game of 223. Jocelyn Bradley placed 29th with a high game of 207 followed by Kim Paulausky (34th) with a high game of 246 (only 2 bowlers had higher games in the entire tourney), Rachel DeBoer (61st), Alissa Leicht (62nd), and Meagan Sykes (63rd).
At the exhibition match Dec 6 against Elmhurst College at Fairhaven Lanes in Mundelein, RMU was victorious 2570-2273. Kim Paulausky led the Eagles with a 578 series for the 3 games including a 201 game. Rachel Kerner and Alissa Leicht each bowled 199 games. Next up for the Lady Bowlers include 2 tournaments over Christmas break in Stratford, NJ and Allentown, PA.

Eagles Place 2nd at Oshkosh
RMU's Lady Bowlers continued to improve with a 2nd place finish out of 11 teams at the Titan Invitational in Oshkosh, WI. this past weekend. Rachel Kerner placed 3rd overall to lead the Eagles. Her performance included a high game of 229 with an average over 9 games of 202. Jocelyn Bradley placed 14th including a high game of 245 followed by Kim Paulausky (19th) - high game 238, Andrea Collins (20th) -high game 211, Rachel DeBoer (23rd) - high game 206, Alissa Leicht (25th) - high game 212, and Megan Sykes (31st) - high game 207. RMU will travel to Rock Island this weekend to bowl in the Leatherneck Classic.

Eagles Ranked 27th in 1st Poll
After placing 16th out of 24 teams at the Illinois State BPA Collegiate Classic over the weekend, the Lady Eagle Bowlers learned that they were the 27th ranked team in the nation for the 1st Poll of the 2005-2006 season. Jocelyn Bradley led the Eagles again with a 45th finish out of 141 bowlers including a high game of 190. Kim Paulausky placed 66th, followed by Meagan Sykes (79th) with a high game of 201, Rachel Kerner (104th), Alissa Leicht (116th) with a high game of 218, Rachel DeBoer (122nd), and Andrea Collins. RMU is off until Nov. 19-20 when they participate in the Titan Classic in Oshkosh,WI.

Eagle Bowlers Continue to Improve
RMU's Bowlers placed 13th out of 20 teams at the Orange & Black Classic in Centerville, Ohio this past weekend. Jocelyn Bradley paced the Eagles this time with a 14th place finish out of 120 bowlers(including a high game of 221 and a 187 average). Kim Paulausky finished 51st(including a high game of 204 and a 164 average.) followed by Rachel Kerner 81st, Meagan Sykes 82nd, Alissa Leicht 99th, Rachel DeBoer 106th, and Andrea Collins 111th. RMU will travel to Bellville, IL this weekend for their next tourney.

RMU Bowlers 13th at Brickyard Classic
RMU Lady Bowlers competed in their 2nd ever Collegiate Tourney at Indianapolis in the Brickyard Classic. Rachel Kerner once again led the Eagles with a 25th finish among the 15 teams competing(11 teams bowled in the National Finals last year from this meet). Meagan Sykes placed 25th followed by Jocelyn Bradley 61st, Kim Paulausky 66th, and Rachel DeBoer 79th. The Eagles travel to Ohio this weekend for the Orange & Black Classic.

Lady Bowlers Respectable at Hammer Midwest Collegiate Tournament
RMU Women's Bowlers opened its inaugural campaign with a 14th place finish out of 19 teams at the Hammer Midwest Collegiate Tourney in Wauwatosa, WI. Seven of the nineteen teams who competed at this tourney bowled in the National Finals last spring. Fresno State took 1st in the Team Competition while Jenn Ridalla from Lindenwood University took 1st place in the Individual Competition. Rachel Kerner led the Lady Eagles with 1589 pins (23rd) followed by Meagan Sykes with 1377 pins (49th), Jocelyn Bradley - 1174 pins (74th), Rachel DeBoer - 902 pins (86th), Kim Paulausky - 893 pins (87th), and Alissa Leicht - 881 pins (89th). RMU will travel to the Brickyard Classic in Indianapolis on Oct. 15-16 for their next competition.

Women's Bowling has been added to the rapidly expanding RMU Lake County Athletic Department for the 2005-2006 school year. Robert Morris University will be bowling at Sunset Bowl Lanes in Waukegan on North Lewis Ave. Practices will begin in September of 2005.
