Springfield, IL - Coach Mead will be entering his second season with the Lady Eagles and will look to put his stamp on the program with his 2010 recruiting class.

A 1998 graduate of PORTA High School in Petersburg, IL, Mead was a three-sport high school student-athlete and the quarterback for the PORTA Football Team.  He returned to PORTA in 2005 to guide the girl's basketball team as the head coach of the PORTA Lady Jays.  In Coach Mead's four years at the helm of the Lady Jays, their record was 62-45, including a 41-18 mark the past two seasons.  Under Coach Mead's leadership, the PORTA program was developed from the  third grade on up to Varsity with several student-athletes going on to play at the college level.

In his final year at PORTA, Coach Mead led the Lady Jays to a 22-9 record, tying the school's single season mark for wins, and captured the Riverton Christmas Tournament with two of his players being named to the All-Tourney Team, including the Tournament MVP.  Coach Mead's Lady Jays also won the Lexington Tournament two years in a row, compiling a 10-0 record in the process.

Coach Mead not only enjoyed success at the high school level, he also led two teams to National Championships in the American Youth Basketball Tour during the summers of 2007 and 2008. 

Coach Mead and his staff place a large emphasis on performance in the classroom. 
During his time at PORTA over ninety percent of his student-athletes were named to the honor roll.

The Lady Eagles of Springfield have made six straight appearances in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship Tournament, twice earning the top seed
