Beecher stand-out Samantha Ores signs RMU Softball Letter of Intent!
Chicago, IL - Winning is contagious, and coaches search for players who know how to win. The Robert Morris Softball team has added a player with the kind of credentials coaches dream about: Beecher High School first sacker Samantha Ores.
"Sam comes to us from one of the top programs in the state," says RMU Head Coach Megan Smith Eggert. "She and her teammates have put together quite a record during her career."
There's no question about that. Coach Kevin Hayhurst's Ladycats are 95-12 over the last three seasons, with three Illinois High School Association Regional titles, three sectional championships, and an appearance in the 2007 Illinois State Finals. BHS made the most of that opportunity, defeating Casey-Westfield for the State Championship. Samantha drove in the winning run with a pinch-hit single in the Ladycats' 3-1 victory.
Two highlights from her junior year including breaking up a no-hitter against Sandburg High School and driving in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 Beecher win over rival Hanover Central. The Lady Cats finished the 2008 season with a perfect 10-0 River Valley Conference record and a 29-7 overall record. They fell in the IHSA Champaign Super-sectional to eventual state runner-up Stanford Olympia.
An all-around athlete, Samantha also played volleyball for Beecher. She is a member of the Illinois Outlaws Travel Softball program.
"Sam is the kind of athlete who is ready to dig in at the collegiate level," says Coach Eggert. "Coming from successful high school and travel programs has prepared her to take that next step."
The daughter of Tim and Diane Ores, the newest Lady Eagle will pursue a major in either Business or Health and Fitness at the College's Orland Park Location.
