#2 Rhode Island reaches Final Four with win over Gophers!

Bensenville, IL - The #2 University of Rhode Island Rams remained the ACHA's only undefeated team and advanced to the semi-finals of the American Collegiate Hockey Association Women's Division I National Championships with a convincing 6-2 quarterfinal victory over the #6 Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota on March 7, 2008, at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL.

The Rams improved to 27-0-1 after taking control of a 2-2 tie midway through the second period and scoring four answered goals to run out to the win.

Rhode Island's #1 line of Jolene Rambone (Burrillville, RI), Justine Ducie (Sandwich, MA), and Kate Garcia (Hope, RI) tallied nine points, as the trio scored four goals with Ducie accounting for a pair.

Jess Meyer (Oakdale, MN) and Lindsey LeMere (Findley, MN) found the net for the Gophers.

The loss eliminates the Golden Gophers who fell to #3 Robert Morris College (IL) and notched a thrilling win over Western Michigan in reaching the quarterfinals in their fourth national tournament appearance.  This was Minnesota's best finish.

The Rams will now face the tournament hosts, #3 Robert Morris, on their home ice.  The Eagles are 24-3 in ACHA play this season with all three of their losses at the hands of #1 Lindenwood University (MO).  The Rams pinned a loss on the Lions early in the season.

The puck drops in that semi-final game at 7:45 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL.
