#1 Lindenwood scores twelve to rout Badgers!

Bensenville, IL - The Lindenwood University (MO) Lions showed why they are the #1-ranked team in the nation, scoring a goal before a minute had elapsed, then running out to a 12-1 win over the #8-seeded Wisconsin Badgers in pool-play for the ACHA 2008 Women's Division I National Championship on March 6, 2008, at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL.

Seven different Lindenwood players scored goals as the Badgers were unable to stem the tide.  Mandy Dion (Medicine Hat, Alberta) notched a hat trick for the Lions and added two more assists for a five-point game.  All-Americans Kat Hannah (Vernon, CT0 and Ashley Boye (Cape Coral, FL) traded assists on each other's goals.

The Badgers spoiled the shut-out with a goal late in the third period from Elizabeth Donlan (Hillsboro, WI).  Julia Holl (Minnetonka, MN) earned an assist on that score.

The Lions outshot Wisconsin 51-16 as LU goaltender Becca Bernet (Katy, TX) stopped all but one of the shots she faced.

The win improves Lindenwood's record to 32-3 overall, 24-2 in the ACHA.  Wisconsin falls to 16-9-1 overall, 8-8-1 in ACHA play.

The Lions will continue their quest for their second national title--they claimed their first in 2006 in a thrilling sudden death win over Robert Morris College (IL)--later in the day as pool play continues.  The Lions will take on #12 Colorado at 5:30 PM at the Edge on John Street.  Colorado and Wisconsin will face off on Friday, March 7, 2008, at 10:15 AM on the West Rink at the Edge Ice Arena.
