Robert Morris' Skital Honored!

Congratulations Adrian!

Eagles just miss post-season action!

Robert Morris just missed out on post-season conference play finishing 4-5 and 7th in the CCAC.  The 10-team conference sends the top six finishers to the conference tournament.  Robert Morris' last appearance in the play-offs was in 2003, the year they also won the league championship.

Eagles lose in OT!

"They saved their best for last," commented Coach Ryan on his teams performance in their last home game of the 2006 season.  Facing #3 in conference Cardinal Stritch University on a rainy cold evening, the men's soccer team gave their opponent all they could handle but fell just a bit short losing 3-2 in OT.

The opposition struck first in the 39th minute of play when a CSU midfielder was able to get back post away from his marker and calmly tuck away the one-time effort.  Robert Morris would grab the equalizer on a splendid individual effort from freshman Antonio Pacheco (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) in the 60th minute.  Shaking off two defenders, Pacheco was able to get free from 20 yards and beat the CSU goalkeeper with his blast.  CSU took advantage of some shaking defending by Robert Morris to regain their lead in the 68th minute.  Robert Morris would get their equalizer in the 83rd minute of play when Erik Bullock (West Allis, WI) headed in a Pacheco cross from the right flank.

In overtime, the Eagles scored what they thought would be the game-winner when Adrian Skital (Naperville, IL) received the ball from Dejan Trencevski (Skopje, Macedonia) and slipped his shot past the CSU goalkeeper.  However, the goal was waived off claiming Skital was off-sides when he received Trencevski's pass.  CSU would the score the game-winner just six minutes later when a CSU forward headed home a cross from a foul just to the outside of the Robert Morris penalty box.

Robert Morris goalkeeper Ryan Thomas (Granite City, IL) recorded 11 saves.

St. Francis scored in the 86th minute to erase the shutout and make things a little nervous before Bullock could ice the match.  Robert Morris GK Ryan Thomas recorded eight saves on the night.

Robert Morris concludes CCAC play on Saturday, Oct. 21st when they host Cardinal Stritch University at SASA Fields.  Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm following a recognition for the seniors of Robert Morris men's soccer.

Eagles win conference match-up!

Robert Morris scored three first-half goals and held off conference foe St. Xavier 3-2 in CCAC action.  Antonio Pacheco (freshman; forward) scored Robert Morris' first two goals, the first on an assist from Adrian Skital (junior; forward) 3:52 into the game, and Skital added the last score on an assist from Pacheco with 1:30 left in the first half.

St. Xavier scored their second goal with 16:53 remaining in the game and forced the action in the Eagles half.  St. Xavier outshot Robert Morris 10-5 in the second half, but the Eagles defense held tight to secure the win.

Red card dooms Eagles!

Trinity International used a one-man advantage to score four straight second-half goals and defeat Robert Morris 4-1.  With the game tied 1-1, a Robert Morris defender was given a red card and the Eagles were forced to play the final 39 minutes a man down.  Robert Morris' defense held TIU at bay until the 75th minute when Trinity was finally able to capitalize on their man advantage.

Dwayne Simpson (freshman; Chicago, IL) put Robert Morris on the board with his first collegiate goal in the third minute of action.  Simpson headed in an Antonio Pacheco corner kick.

Pacheco, Skital pace Eagles to victory!

Antonio Pacheco (freshman; Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) scored three goals and Adrian Skital (junior; Naperville, IL) had one goal and three assists to pace Robert Morris to a 4-3 victory over Olivet Nazarene in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference game.  Pacheco started the scoring in the 15th minute of play when he collected an Adrian Skital pass 20 yards out and drilled his volley beating the ONU goalkeeper.  Just three minutes passed before ONU was able equalize on a penalty kick.  First-half would end 1-1.

With line-up adjustments made during half-time, RMC came out soaring finishing chances in the 50th, 51st and 57th minute for a 4-1 lead.  The Eagles then needed timely goalkeeping from Ryan Thomas (freshman; Granite City, IL) to preserve the 4-3 victory.  "Ryan was huge in the goal today for his team.  This was the kind of solid performance we knew Ryan is capable of" stated RMC GK Coach Kacey Gerding.

Ealges strike quick in Win!

Robert Morris scored its three first-half goals within the game's first 11 minutes and went on to defeat Calumet College of St. Joseph's 4-1 in CCAC play on Wednesday.  Antonio Pacheco scored on an Ambo Mwakatapanya assist two minutes into the game and Adrian Skital added the eventual game-winner just two minutes later.  George Taylor and Erik Bullock added the Eagle's other goals to help them improve to 1-1 in CCAC play (1-7 overall).

Eagles drop CCAC opener!

Illinois Institute of Technology's Nathan Waisath scored with 23 minutes remaining to give the Scarlet Hawks a 1-0 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Robert Morris at SASA Field.  The Eagles (0-7 overall, 0-1 in CCAC) failed to capitalize on five shots on goal after Waisath scored.  "This was our best soccer we've played for 90 minutes all season.  IIT is a quality side and if the boys can keep this play up the coaching staff is confident victories will follow," stated Chris Ryan, Head Coach.

Eagles fall to Iowa Wesleyan!

Adrian Skital scored Robert Morris' only goal in a 3-1 loss to Iowa Wesleyan.  Goalie Ryan Thomas made six saves for the Eagles.

Eagles drop cross-town match 2-0!

Cross-town opponent, University of Illinois-Springfield, was able to capitalize on a couple of Robert Morris mistakes to secure the 2-0 victory.  Midway through the opening half a UIS forward was able to pounce on a loose ball 35 yards out from the RMC goal and tuck it away past Robert Morris goalie Ryan Thomas.  The score would remain 1-0 until the 23rd minute of the second half.  As a UIS attacker was dribbling into the Robert Morris penalty area an on-rushing RMC defender slide tackled the UIS player forcing a penalty kick.  UIS capitalized from the penalty spot to secure the 2-0 victory.

Robert Morris had their chances as UIS almost gifted them the early lead just twenty minutes into the game when a UIS defender and their goalie didn't communicate and almost resulted in an own goal.  Robert Morris' best chance of the evening came with a little over 10 minutes remaining when Robert Morris midfielder Adrian Skital collected a loose ball at the half and beat three UIS defenders before the UIS goalie made a sprawling save to keep the shutout.

Robert Morris drops home opener!

A tale of two halves would be the story on the day.  After playing an inspired first 45 minutes, Robert Morris looked uninspired for the final 45.  On a rainy Sunday afternoon, Robert Morris stormed out for the opening half out-shooting visiting St. Francis, IN by 12-4 in the first half.  Unable to capitalize and take full advantage on their first half effort Robert Morris would have to settle for 1-1 score at the half.  With 45 minutes to play to open the season with a victory, the Eagles would find themselves pressed as St. Francis played for victory and would get the eventual game-winner with 15 minutes left in regulation.

Junior midfielder Adrian Skital (Naperville, IL) scored Robert Morris' lone tally of the day.
