Lake County Men's Soccer score goals for Waukegan Rotary Club!

Lake County Men's Soccer Team and Coaches cleanup the North Shore Bicycle Path.
Waukegan, IL - Though the 2009 fall soccer campaign ended for the Robert Morris-Lake County Men's Soccer team over five months ago, the Eagles have been busy lending a hand to the Waukegan Rotary Club in their efforts to clean up the North Shore Bicycle Path.
Bicycle Path Cleanup Day was staged this past weekend Saturday, May 8, 2010 in communities from Glenview, IL to Kenosha, WI, and the Eagles were there.
The weather was quite chilly and overcast for the day, but that didn't prevent the "Kickers" from having a little fun along the way while cleaning up a mile of bike path for their community. "Even though everybody was quite cold during the cleanup," Coach Rommel Guzman observed, "I think we had some warmer hearts when it was all said and done."
The Eagles are also helping the Rotary Club with an additional project by placing signage and doing spot jobs for the Club's Car Raffle in August in hopes of help raising $30,000 for the organization which will be used for less fortunate individuals in Waukegan. A total of 150 community service hours are planned for the Eagle players and coaches for these two events.
USCAA honors Lake County Athletes!
Newport, VA - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association recently announced its 2009-2010 Academic All-Americans at the USCAA National Soccer Championships in Connecticut. Five members of the Robert Morris Lake County Women's and Men's Soccer Team earned All-American Academic status.
Linda Alvarez (Waukegan, IL) was a repeat recipient of this honor for the Lady Eagles. Alvarez was joined by teammates Joanne Mariscal (Round Lake Beach, IL) and Eden Matus (Waukegan, IL) as first-time award winners. Both Daniel Rodriguez (Panama City, Panama) and Nemanja Nenadovic (Gurnee, IL) also were named to the USCAA All-Academic Team for the Lake County Eagles Men's Soccer program.
Pictured below are the USCAA awards honorees.

The Eagles from RMU (Lake County) recorded their second tie game of the year with Aurora University on Saturday Oct. 17 with the outcome ending at 1-1. Earlier in Sept. neither team managed a score at Robert Morris. Saturday's contest at Aurora displayed the same characteristics as the first match with oustanding defensive displayed by both squads.
The score was tied after the 1st half until Daniel Rodriguez (So. - Panama City, Panama) gave a nice pass to Mel Castro (Fr. - Waukegan, IL) to give the Eagles the lead early in the 2nd half. Castro (pictured below) was set up initially from some solid ball movement from Sergio Rea and Geardo Mejia in the mid-field.
The lead held up until the last minute when AU scored off a deflected ball that was punched out by RMU goalie Nemanja Nenadovic (So. - Gurnee, IL). Nenadovic got tangled up with an AU player and could not get back in goal.
The Eagles record is now 3-7-4 overall as they await the arrival of Lindenwood U. this Saturday 1:00 at Dugdale Park, Waukegan.

Eagles Lanced by CLC!
Consistency in scoring goals continued to be a concern for the 2009 version of the Robert Morris Lake County Soccer Team as witnessed in their latest loss to the College of Lake County 3-0 on a cold wet Thursday afternoon at Dugdale Park in Waukegan.
CLC jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game leaving the Eagles back on their heals for the most part. After gathering themselves midway through the 1st half, RMU managed to mount a few serious scoring threats. However, they were turned back on all opportunities. The 2nd half was almost a duplicate of the opening half as the Lancers from CLC struck quickly to go up 3-0. The game ended with both teams swapping play in the midfield.
Coach Guzman afterwards commented to his team that "We have to learn to play hard the whole the contest. I realize that we are banged up and that the majority of you are underclassmen. However, a solid effort from start to finish will heal a lot of wounds. We still have an outside chance to get a bid to the USCAA National Championship, but we must give everything we have left in our last three games."
The Eagles record is now 3-7-3 for the season and they will travel to Aurora University this Saturday for a 9:00 contest.
Injuries Still Plague RMU at Morton/Moody Bible!
The RMU Men's Soccer Team has been playing hurt all season long with a number of
nagging injuries to key performers. This was no more evident then at the Eagles 0-0 tie against Morton College on Thursday Oct. 8 and the 3-1 loss to Moody Bible Institute Tuesday Oct. 13.
Goals have been extremely hard to come by this season with a squad depleted by so many injuries. A couple of bright spots for the Eagles has been the play of both Daniel Rodriguez (So. - Panama City, Panama) and goalie Nemanja Nenadovic (So. - Gurnee, IL). Rodriguez (at right) scored the lone goal in the Robert Morris loss at Moody Bible and Nenadovic (at left) has been stellar in goal for the Eagles by stopping a barage
of shots all season long. The Eagle Kickers have managed to keep their focus and are currently ranked 8th in the latest USCAA poll, despite the hand that has been dealt to them this season.
RMU's record stands at 3-6-3 for the season as they host the College of Lake County Thursday Oct. 15 at Dugdale Park beginning at 4:00 PM.
Kickers Split in the Tundra!
The Robert Morris Men's Soccer Team journeyed into the upper UP and northern
Wisconsin over this past weekend to take on both Findlandia University and Northland International University. Playing in winter-like conditions both days, the Eagles managed to achieve a split by defeating Finlandia 4-1 on Friday Oct. 2 and losing to Northland 2-0 on Saturday Oct. 3.
Daniel Rodriduez (So. - Panama City, Panama) had a huge game against Finlandia.
Rodriguez (pictured at right) managed to have a hand in all the scoring with 1 goal and 3 assists. Sergio Rea (So. - Waukegan, IL ), Karim Gonzales (Fr. - Zion, IL) and Alan Medina (Fr. - North Chicago, IL) all contributed goals in RMU's victory. Coach Rommel Guzman stated "This was one of our better performances of the season. We hit the post four times and missed three shots from five to ten yards. We were all over them."
Saturday's game saw very little oportunities for scoring by either team as weather conditions worsened. Powerful Northland International University squeaked out two goals past Nemanaja Nenadovic (So. - Gurnee, IL) who otherwise played a stellar game in goal for the Eagles.
RMU's record is now 3-5-2 for the season and they will travel to Morton College Thursday Oct. 8 for their next match.
Eagles Scratch Out OT Win at Mt. Mary Tourney!!!
The Robert Morris Men's Soccer Team defeated North Central University (MN) 3-2 in overtime on Friday Sept 4 in Milwaukee, WI to improve their season's record to 2-3. RMU's Stefan Nenadovic (Fr. - Gurnee, IL) drew first blood with a goal 2 minutes into the contest off a corner kick. Nenadovic (at left) headed the ball past the NCU goalie from a beautiful pass from Alan Medina (Fr. - North Chicago, IL).
After NCU scored 5 minutes later on a corner kick of their own, USCAA All-American Daniel Rodriguez (So. - Panama City, Panama) put the Eagles ahead 2-1 on another nice assist from Medina (at right) . With 20 minutes remaining in the contest, NCU knotted up the match at 2-2 where it remained until
the overtime.
In overtime, RMU pushed the ball deep into the NCU defense taking four shots before a rebound was put back in for the winning goal by Sergio Rea (So. - Waukegan, IL).
The Eagles are off until Sunday when they travel to Elmhurst College for a 12:30 PM contest.
RMU Scores 1st Win at Benedictine!!!!!!
Led by Sergio Rea's 1st half goal 20 minutes into the contest, the Robert Morris
Eagles Men's Soccer team finally notched its first win of the 2009 campaign at Benedictine University on Thurs Aug 27. Rea (pictured right) scored on a breakaway as he slipped behind the Benedictine defense to fire a nicely placed shot behind the BU goalie. The goal seemed to energize the Eagles for the rest of the game as RMU applied constant pressure on the BU defense. Though Robert Morris did not score again, they controlled every facet of the game for a hard fought victory and improved their record to 1-3.
The Kickers will take on the University of St. Francis in an exhibition match this Mon Aug 31 at Dugdale Park at 5:00.
Kickers Continue Struggles at Wisconsin Lutheran/Marian
Hampered by a number of injuries over the first three games, the highly regarded RMU Men's Soccer Team from Lake County has encountered a tough start to the 2009 campaign. On Saturday the Eagles visited Wisconsin Lutheran in Milwaukee, WI falling 3-0. Though RMU played much better in this contest than in their opener, the Eagles still were not able to score despite outshooting their opponents 3-1 and hitting the crossbar/posts 5 times. Sunday saw another loss to Marian University (Fondulac, WI) by a score of 2-0. This places RMU's record at 0-3. The Eagles travel to Lisle Thursday August 27 to take on Benedictine University.
Eagles Sluggish in Oakton Opener
The 2009 RMU Men's Soccer Team opened up their fall campaign with a somewhat flat
preformance on Fri Aug 14 at Dugdale Park. The Eagles found themselves backed up in their own end for the majority of the 1st half with constant pressure applied by the Oakton offense. The score ended 2-0 at intermission and even though RMU exhibited a more balanced attack in the 2nd half, they were unable to score. Oakton CC added one more goal at the end of the game to win 3-0. The Eagles will travel nto Wisconsin over the weekend taking on Wisconsin Lutheran in Milwaukee on Saturday and continuing north on Sunday to Fondulac to take on Marian.
