Coach Truty will be heading into his 11th season as a collegiate coach and his 5th season as Head Coach for the Eagles Soccer program. During his five years, the Eagles have made it to the CCAC postseason for the last two years and will looking ahead to a third year. Assembling another strong recruiting class with the group returning gives Truty & his staff hope to continue building the program into a NAIA contender. “Our goal is always to make the CCAC tournament so we can win it and advance to the NAIA National Tournament. We want our players to have that chance and opportunity to reach such a high level of competition. It’s an experience that can only be reached with dedication and talent. We have both of those so 2011 is a very exciting year for the Eagles.”

Truty brings a wealth of experience to the position. A 1995 graduate of Aurora University (IL), Truty played professional soccer in the United States International Soccer League and the A-League. He has coached at the high school, college, and club levels. For five seasons he served as an assistant under RMU Women's Soccer Head Coach Kurt Melcher, helping the Lady Eagles to five straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships and four straight NAIA Region VII titles.
In 2006, Truty concentrated on his club coaching duties with the Chicago Sockers FC. He holds a number of coaching certifications, including United States Soccer Federation A-Level Coaching License and the NCSAA Regional Goalkeeping Certificate.
"The key to a building a successful program is recruiting players who will all aim for the same goal," he says. "We want young men who are dedicated and committed to building a team. They must be willing to sacrifice for the ultimate goal of winning a championship."
Coach Truty philosophy calls for the development of an individual training program tailored to each player, focusing on technique, fitness, function, and tactics. "Players in our program have every opportunity to maximize their abilities," he says. "That's the best way for each individual player to help pave the way for the team's success."
The RMU Soccer Program fields both a Varsity and Reserve team. Young men who are interested in joining the great tradition of Eagles Athletics while pursuing their education at the seventh-largest private school in Illinois can contact Coach Truty at jtruty@robertmorris.edu or 312-935-4523.

Coach Cop looks ahead to 2011:
Last Season: Definitely didn’t live up to expectations due to the talent we had on the squad. It was a disappointment due to the success we had in 2009, but we still made it to the ccac playoffs.
Upcoming Season: We are adding some more talent and flavor to the squad which should help us improve our record and stats. Looking forward to starting the season and ending the season a little later with a deep playoff run.
