2011 Alumni Game recognizes "Skate for Pink"!
SPRINGFIELD, IL - As skaters from years past took the ice for the 2011 Alumni Game, a moment prior to face-off was given to recognize the donation made by RMU-Springfield Hockey to the SIU School of Medicine.
On Friday, October 29, 2010, the Robert Morris University-Springfield Hockey team hosted their 2nd Annual "Skate for Pink" to help raise awareness & funds to assist in battling breast cancer. Proceeds to benefit Simmons Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Research.

Donation of $583 presented to Dr. Tom Robbins by RMU-Springfield Captain Zach Turner on Saturday, January 21, 2011 prior to the alumni game.


In one of the most competitive Alumni Games in the last few years, both teams battled to the end of regulation tied 6-6. What followed was an exciting shootout won by the current crop of RMU skaters 3-2.
LLHH recognizes RMU Springfield Hockey!
SPRINGFIELD, IL - On Friday, January 21, 2011, Lincoln Land High School Hockey recognized the Robert Morris University-Springfield Athletic Department and Hockey Program as they were once again a sponsor for LLHH's All-Star Game.
This is the tenth season for the LLHH All-Star Game and the tenth season that RMU-Springfield has sponsored the event. RMU Hockey has supported this event and LLHH since its inception.
Past LLHH players that have gone on to skate for the Eagles are: Matt Conavay (Rochester), Kasey Courtwright (Broadwell), Justin Elmore (Springfield), Colin Runion (Springfield), Kenny Luttrell (Springfield) and Derek Lewis (Springfield). Current Eagles' that have participated in this event are: Henry Barnes (Bloomington), Dan Ferguson (Bloomington), Jarion Walk (Bloomington) and David Long (Decatur).
1st Annual "Skate for Pink" - see story below

On January 23, 2010, the Robert Morris University - Springfield Hockey team hosted their 1st Annual "Skate for Pink" to help raise awareness & funds to assist in battling breast cancer. Spearheaded by Zach Turner (freshman; Colleyville, TX), all proceeds are going to benefit the Susan G. Komen Fight for the Cure. First period proves costly!

PEORIA, IL - Four first period goals by #1 seed Missouri State - White was enough as they advanced to the championship game of the MACHA Silver Tournament with a 5-3 victory over #4 seed Robert Morris University - Springfield.
Trailing 4-0 after the first period, RMU Springfield outscored Missouri State - White 3-1 but wasn't enough as their season and comeback ended in the semifinals of the MACHA Silver Tournament in Peoria, IL.

PEORIA, IL - The #4 seeded Robert Morris University Springfield Eagles, making their MACHA post-season return under the direction of 1st year head coach Chris Wyler, defeated the #5 seeded Loyola University Ramblers 7-4 at The Owens Center in first-round MACHA Conference Tournament action.
Led by senior Derrick Brown (Granite City, IL; 5 goals & 1 assist for six points; pictured above) the Eagles now will face either #1 seed Missouri State-White or the #2 seed Purdue University on Saturday at 5pm or 11am respectively.
Loyola outshot the Eagles 42-25 but RMU junior goaltender Jairon Walk (Carlock, IL) supported RMU with 38 saves.
Leading 3-2 after the second period, Robert Morris' offense exploded with three goals by Brown and one by junior David Long (Decatur, IL; RMU's leading scorer for 2009-2010) in the third.

Eagles close out home season, Senior Night!
SPRINGFIELD, IL - On Friday, February 12, 2010 the Springfield Men's Ice Hockey team closed out their home 2009-2010 campaign with an 8-3 victory over SIUe Silver on Senior Night. The following afternoon, they went on the road and defeated SIUe Silver 7-1 to earn the #3 seed for the MACHA Silver South Division into the MACHA Tournament.

Big second period boosts Eagles!
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Henry Barnes (junior; Hudson, IL) scored two goals and Derrick Brown (senior; Granite City, IL) added a goal and three assists Friday to help RMU to a 7-4 victory over Purdue University.
Goaltender Jairon Walk (junior; Carlock, IL; pictured below right) made 25 saves for the Eagles. 
Robert Morris led 1-0 after the first period and exploded for five goals in the second to take a 6-3 lead heading into the third.
David Long (junior; Decatur, IL) and Dominic Guriel (freshman; Detroit, MI) each had a goal and assisted twice.
Cameron Williams (freshman; Collinsville, IL) and Tukker Gierach (freshman; Mt. Zion, IL) scored the Eagles' other two goals.
Brown nets win for Eagles! 
PEORIA, IL - Derrick Brown (senior; Granite City, IL; pictured at right) scored three goals and had an assist to lead RMU Springfield past RMU Peoria 6-4 at the ACHA Showcase at the Owens Center.
RMU Springfield (5-9) trailed 3-2 after two periods.
David Long (junior; Decatur, IL) added two goals for Springfield and Dominic Guriel (freshman; Detroit, MI) netted one.
Eagles skaters take 2nd Place!
BENSENVILLE, IL - The RMU-Springfield skaters captured 2nd Place in their division of the RMU-Chicago Hockey Showcase.
With three teams finishing play with identical records, the Springfield skaters claimed 2nd place with fewest goals allowed tiebreaker.

Eagles fall to RMU-Chicago!
BENSENVILLE, IL - David Long (junior; Decatur, IL) scored RMU-Springfield's lone goal in a 5-1 loss to the RMU-Chicago Maroon squad.
Long scored at 11 minutes 42 seconds of the first period off an assist from Cameron Williams (freshman; Collinsville, IL).
Brown, Barnes boost Eagles! 
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL - Derrick Brown (senior; Granite City, IL) and Henry Barnes (junior; Hudson, IL; pictured at right) scored two goals apiece to lift Robert Morris University past McKendree 7-3 on Friday.
Dan Ferguson (junior; Normal, IL) contributed with a goal and two assists for RMU.
On Saturday, McKendree defeated RMU 5-2.
RMU Springfield Eagles are now 3-3.
