Bryan Soady enters his second season with the Robert Morris hockey program and his first as head coach of the Springfield Eagles. Bryan started with RMC as an assistant coach with Springfield last year and now takes over the top spot. Coach Soady has already begun to build a culture of commitment and success among new recruits and returning players. “We are excited for Bryan and this opportunity to make a positive impact on the Robert Morris-Springfield Hockey Program. He is familiar with the returning players and eager to lay a foundation for success for them and the new player’s joining Robert Morris-Springfield Hockey,” stated Associate Director of Athletics Chris Ryan.
A native and product of the fabled downstate Illinois Pekin hockey organization that narrowly missed winning 3 High School AA State Championships in four years (1987, 1989, Final Four 1990). Bryan also competed in 1988 for the Bantam National Championship. Beginning his coaching career in Pekin while still playing in high school, Coach Soady has been an active presence in central Illinois hockey ever since. After high school, Coach Soady played two years for the revitalized Pekin Stars, often competing against college teams that served as founding members of the MACHA Conference, one of the strongest conference’s in ACHA DII competition. Coach Soady has experience coaching in Pekin, Peoria and Springfield youth hockey organizations. Coach Soady was also an important part of the creation of an ACHA DIII Men’s Hockey team for Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL and amassed a stable record of success in two years of competition.
Bryan is very active in the hockey community during the off season as well, working as an organizer for events that raise money for local hockey clubs through the efforts of the Land of Lincoln Hockey Boosters Club.
A single Father of two, Bryan graduated cum laude from Bradley University in 1994 and received his Master’s Degree in Political Management in 1996 from George Washington University. When Coach Soady is not working on behalf of the Robert Morris-Springfield squad, he works as the Director of Governmental Relations with the Illinois Chiropractic Society, a not-for-profit trade association, representing Chiropractors and their issues in the Illinois General Assembly and U.S. Congress.
“I am grateful for the opportunity with RMC-Springfield. I believe our mission is to achieve an ACHA National Championship and our purpose is to have fun along the way.”
