Peoria Eagles' well represented with ACHA Post Season Awards!

PEORIA, IL - The ACHA post-season awards have been announced.  Robert Morris University - Peoria Hockey players were well represented claiming many awards on-and-off the ice.

ACHA Division 3 - 2nd Team All-American
-Sam Milligan (Brantford, ON); Freshman - Defense

Coach Jim Sanchez has this to say, "It is very rewarding to see our players receive these honors. They have worked very hard all season and being recognized like this is validation for their hard work and commitment to the program. It is most importantly nice to see the five academic all-american’s get recognized for their efforts in the classroom."

MACHA Siver Division Champions!

PEORIA, IL - The Robert Morris University - Peoria Hockey Team captured the 2011-12 MACHA Silver Division Championship on Sunday, Feb. 12th by defeating Marquette University 3-1.

The Peoria Eagles' skaters (34-2) capped off an excellent weekend of hockey with an exciting championship game.  En route to their 3-1 victory over Marquette, RMU received goals in the championship game from Erik Norton (Santa Barbara, CA), Sam Milligan (Brantford, Ontario) and Bowe Vanderbloom (Cheyenne, WY).
 
Robert Morris started off championship week by defeating Northwestern University 7-0 in the quarter-finals and then dispatching of Iowa State 8-0 on Saturday in the semi-finals.
 
RMU goaltender Jake Burge (Rochester, NY) was named the Tournament MVP.
 
The Eagles' were also led by great penalty killing from Josh Sandberg (East Lansing, MI) and Brandon Neville (Peoria, IL).
 
Stated Head Coach Sanchez, "I am very proud of our team for this championship accomplishment and the regular season that we've had.  They have worked very hard all season and truly deserve this, but there is still more work ahead of us."
 
RMU will now travel to Macomb, MI for the ACHA Regional Tournament slated to start Friday, Feb. 17th.  RMU-Peoria will look to regionals to fight for a birth to the ACHA National Tournament being held in Atlantic City, NJ from March 13-16.

Peoria Eagles prepare for next step!

PEORIA, IL - After winning the MACHA Silver Division Championship last weekend, the RMU Peoria hockey team is heading to Macomb, MI for the ACHA D3 Regional Tournament. The Eagles will face Oakland University on Friday at 3:15 PM. RMU, who ended the season with a 34-2 record, hope to advance to the ACHA National Tournament being held in Atlantic City, NJ from March 14-17th.

Eagles close out season at regionals!

MACOMB, MI - Robert Morris University-Peoria Hockey's season has come to an end.

The Eagles lost to Oakland University on Friday, February 17th by the score of 5-3 in their ACHA Regional playoff game. It was a very exciting game with Oakland scoring an empty netter to seal the victory.

RMU goals were scored by Sam Milligan and two by Josh Sandberg. The Eagles finished the season with a school best 34-3 overall record and also were the MACHA Champions. RMU will be sending five All-Stars to the D3 National Tournament on March 30th to compete for a spot on the ACHA team that will be heading to Europe next December.

Sanchez named All-Star Coach!

PEORIA, IL - Robert Morris-Peoria coach Jim Sanchez has been named head coach of the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association's D3 All-Star Team that will compete in a national tournament March 30-April 1 in Westchester, PA.  The tournament will use a modified round-robin format.  Players in the tournament will compete for a spot on the Division 3 National Team.
