RMC Maroon D2 8
Central Michigan 4
The #4 ranked Maroon team remains perfect in GLIHA as they defeat the #5 ranked Central Michigan Chippewa's at Addison Friday night. It was a nice night for the former gold team players: Chris Goerdt had two goals, Sergei Vahmistrouvs and Dante Salinas each had one. Mike Benson kept his scoring streak alive with another goal.
Most impressive is the Maroon team continuing to win despite numerous injuries. We'll look for them to keep the ball rolling tonight at Addison 5:50p.m. in the second game of the series.
Saturday December 10
RMC Maroon D2 4
Central Michigan 2
The Maroon team knocks off the #5 team in the Central region two nights in a row, securing their spot at #4 and maybe better. In addition, they have already clinched the GLIHA regular season title with the sweep. Adam Truch was solid in the nets and Chris Goerdt continued his hot weekend with two more goals. Jason Bogaerts score the fourth one, creating some much needed breathing space in the third period.
The Maroon team is now on "holiday break" and they reopen the season January 6-7 vs Davenport at home. Davenport is #2 in the Central, so an automatic bid to the national tournament will be at stake that weekend. They will be without pesky winger John Murphy, who received a DQ for fighting (his second DQ), therefore he will not be available vs. Davenport.
Friday December 2
RMC Maroon D2 5
Dayton University 4
The Maroon team won by the identical score to remain undefeated in GLIHA league play, but they did it in entirely different fashion. After staking Dayton to leads of 2-0 and 4-1, they came storming back to win on the road, always a tough task. The charge was lead by Sergei Vahmistrouvs, who had a goal and three assists. Mike Benson, who has been on fire lately added another goal to his collection and Jason Bogaerts notched the game winner late in the third period.
The Maroon squad goes for the sweep at 3:00 this afternoon in Ohio.

Friday November 25-ACHA THANKSGIVING SHOWCASE
RMC Maroon D2 9
Northern Illinois 3
The Maroon team was in control all the way as the skated to an easy victory over NIU. Mike Benson is still on fire, scoring another hat trick (plus 2 assists), giving him 10 goals in his last 4 games! Sam Spiguzza, Dan DiFatta and Derek Makula all had a goal and an assist. A little sloppy defense late in the game gave NIU two extra goals or the margin would have been even wider. A nice start in the tournament for Maroon.
Saturday November 26-ACHA SHOWCASE CONT.
RMC Maroon D2 1
RMC Springfield D2 4
The unranked RMC Springfield team scored its second consecutive upset of the tournament, defeating the Maroon team 4-1. The Maroon team, who just upped their ranking to #4 in the Central never got it going Saturday night. Springfield goalie Nathan Oppe frustrated the Maroon team early, denying them numerous superb scoring chances and keeping the score notched at 0-0. Lightning struck in the second period as Springfield scored four times in less than two minutes, knocking the Maroon team back on its heels for the rest of the way, but it was too late for the stunned Maroon squad.
This marks the second consecutive year the Springfield upset the Maroon team at this tournament, and now Springfield has only the RMC White team standing between them and a second consecutive tournament championship. The Maroon team has a season series tie-breaker with DePaul this evening to close out the tournament, but their expectations of a first-ever tournament championship have been dashed barring two major upsets today.
Sunday November 27-ACHA SHOWCASE CONT.
RMC Maroon D2 4
DePaul 1
The Maroon team rebounded from its loss Saturday night and played a solid 60 minutes vs. a hungry DePaul team. Nino Salvatori was the star of the game in net as he stopped many prime scoring chances for DePaul throughout the contest. Despite the score, it was not an easy victory, as DePaul had several power play opportunities in the third period. The Maroon team finished in second place in the weekend tournament, and while they may be disappointed they did not sweep the weekend and win it all, it was a good sign they were able to regroup after playing poorly on Saturday night.
Next up: Two important GLIHA league contests on the road vs. Dayton in Kettering, OH.
Friday November 18

Grand Valley State 2 OT
Another exciting overtime win for the Maroon team, this one on the road as freshman (and budding star) Mike Benson had the game winner in the first minute of overtime to propel the Maroon team to a 3-0 record in GLIHA play. Newly assigned defensemen Derek Makula scored the game tying goal with a laser beam of a slap shot earlier in the contest. Nino Salvatori had a solid game in net, and right now Coach Jim Sanchez has four goalies who can get the job done.

Saturday November 5
RMC Maroon D2 6
Grand Valley State 4
The Central region rankings came out saturday morning, and the Maroon team checked in at #7 while their opponents Grand Valley State enjoyed a #3 ranking. After our Maroon squad sweeps them on the road expect a little movement in the next ranking period. The coach said it was total team effort in a hard fought contest which saw the Eagles pull away in the third.
The Maroon squad is now 9-3 and on an 8 game winning streak. They are also 4-0 in league play. They are home to face the St. Norbert College JV team, who have joined the ACHA as an independent this season.

Saturday October 29
RMC Maroon D2 11

The Bradley bunch was no match for the Maroon team, as everyone seemed to get into the act for the Maroon team last night. The game was 8-1 after two periods, so the clock was run by mutual agreement in the third period.
