RMC Men Place 3rd in Spring Opener
The RMC Men's Golf Team opened up its spring season with a 3rd place finish at the Carthage Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona. Carthage won the event with a 315 total while the Eagles posted a 327. RMC was led by Adam Placko 78, Chris Myers 79, Luke Chikerotis 80, and Troy Hansen 90. The Eagles next tournament will be April 15-16 in the Millikin Big Blue Classic.
RMC Men Sizzle in NAIA Region 7 Tourney
A pair of record-breaking performances were turned in by the RMC Men's Golf Team Fri/Sat at the Weaver Ridge Golf Club in Peoria. The Eagles shot 303-293 for a 2 day total of 596, good enough for 3rd place behind national powers St. Ambrose(570) and St. Francis(595). The Eagles bettered last year's score at this same event by 100 strokes!!!
Adam Placko(73-72 145) and Chris Myers(74-72 146) both earned All-Region 7 honors finishing 4th and 5th place respectively. Kris Oldeen(81-72 153), Jason Ratzburg(77-77 154), and Luke Chikerotis(79-81 160) contributed to the rest of the Eagles scoring. In only its 2nd year of competition, the RMC Eagles are definitely a force to contend with in the future. Congratulations on an outstanding fall season!!
RMC Men Continue Fine Play
RMC Men's Golf Team continued its excellent season with a 2nd at the Rockford Inv(328) 10 shots behind national power St. Francis. Adam Placko led the Eagles with an 80(4th) followed by Jason Ratzburg 81(9th), Chris Meyers 82(12th), and Luke Chikerotis 85. On Mon Sept 27 the Eagles won their 2nd Tourney of the year in Hammond, Indiana with a 340 total outdistancing Olivet Nazarene 348. At the year-end conference tourney in Hammond Ind on Sept 30 the Eagles finished 2nd again to St. Francis by 2 shots, 329-331. This was the 1st time in 5 years that anyone gave St. Francis a run for their money. Chris Myers 78 (2nd; All-Conference), Adam Placko 82(3rd; All-Conference), Jason Ratzburg 84(7th; Honorable Mention), and Kris Oldeen 87(13th) led the Eagles. Last year's MVP Luke Chikerotis was not able to play due to a severe cut on his hand. RMC will be at Naperville on Mon Oct 4 in its final tune-up before this weekend's NAIA regional in Peoria.
RMC Men Place 8th at St. Francis
Though finishing in the middle of the pack may not sound like much, the Men Golfers played well at St. Francis with a 316 total - 40 shots better than last year at this same tourney. St. Ambrose(295) and St. Francis(296) finished 1/2 in this 16 team event. Both are rated very high nationally in the NAIA rankings. Chris Myers led the Eagles with 77(11th), followed by Adam Placko 78, Jason Ratzburg 79, and Luke Chikerotis 82. RMC will travel to Rockford College this Thursday for their next competition.
Men Golfer's Set School Record at St. Joe's
RMC Men's Golf team shot a school record 304 to place 4th out of 6 teams in the tough field at St Joe's in Indiana. St. Francis won the tourney with a 294, followed by De Pauw and St. Joe's 297. Jason Ratzburg led the Eagles with a 74(7th place), Chris Myers 75, Kris Oldeen 77, and Luke Chikerotis 78. The Men Golfers will travel Tues to St. Francis for their next invitational.
Eagles Place 3rd at Dupage
RMC Men's Golf team finished 3rd in the DuPage Invitational on Friday with a solid 317 performance just 4 back of host Dupage(313). RMC was led by Jason Ratzburg(5th) 77, Adam Placko 78, Luke Chikerotis 79, and Chris Meyers 83. The Eagles will next travel to St. Joe's in Rensselaer, Ind. on Mon Sept 13.
RMC Wins Its 1st Tournament
Robert Morris College Men's Golf Team shot a 308 total to win its 1st tourney ever and handing St. Francis its 1st conference loss in 5 years. St. Francis finished with 311, followed by Olivet 333, Aurora 338, and Indiana Northwest(3 scores only). Leading the Eagles were Kris Oldeen and Adam Placko with 76's followed by Jason Ratzburg and Chris Myers with 78's. The Men Golfers after a very successful start will travel to Dupage this Fri for the Dupage Invite.
RMC finishes 2nd at Olivet Tourney
RMC Men's Golf Team improved by 30 shots from 2003 at the Olivet Invitational to place 2nd with a 326 total. Perenial power St. Francis won the tourney with a 298 total. Olivet placed 3rd with 340 followed by Aurora 340 and Indiana Northwest with 350. Chris Myers led the Eagles with a 78(8th) followed by Luke Chikerotis 79, Troy Hansen 80, and Jason Ratzburg 81. The Eagles will host the same group of teams at Robert Morris on Weds. Sept. 8.
FALL PRACTICES
Men's Golf will begin practicing Mon Aug 16 and Weds Aug 18 at Foss Park Golf Course from 12:30 - 5:00 PM. Tues Aug 17 and Thurs Aug 19 will be conducted at Bonnie Brook from 12:30 - 5:00PM.
