Nathan Bell - Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams, Secondary

Bell begins his 1st year as the Defensive and Special Teams Coordinator for Robert Morris and will coach the secondary. Prior to his arrival at RMU, Bell spent one season as the Defensive Line Coach for NCAA Division III Randolph-Macon College under Head Coach Pedro Arruza.

In 2003, Bell graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. As an athlete, Bell earned three varsity letters and consecutive CCIW Conference Championships (2000-01) while playing linebacker for the Titans. Following his studies at IWU, Bell was hired at his high school alma mater in Mahomet-Seymour and was charged with instructing the wide receivers, tight ends, and defensive secondary—a position he held from 2004-2005.

Bell left Mahomet-Seymour in 2007 and returned to Illinois Wesleyan University—this time as a defensive assistant under Head Coach Norm Eash. During his three year stint at IWU, Bell spent time working with the defensive secondary, outside linebackers, and special teams. In 2007 and 2009, the Titans won the CCIW Championship with Bell’s defensive units earning a NCAA Division III top-5 ranking for total defense (5th) and a top-10 ranking for scoring defense (10th).

In addition to his undergraduate degree, Bell also holds a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology from Illinois State University where he taught Kinesiology classes while completing his graduate program. Bell is a native of Central Illinois (Mahomet-Seymour) although he currently resides in the Chicago suburb of Palatine.
