Philander Smith turned on the jets in the second half outscoring top-seeded Robert Morris University 55-43 to advance to the National Championship game.
The Panthers used a balanced scoring attack with five players in double-figures with Amos Bryant leading the scoring with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
Robert Morris University was led by Tyler Moretto with 24 points, Corley Lee chipped in with 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Tim Hahn scored 12 points.
The tone of this game was set early with All-American Corley Lee picking up two very quick fouls and forced to watch from the bench the majority of the first half. Philander Smith was able to use their speed to neutralize Lee’s presence in the blocks in the second half; still, the Lee managed 13 points and 14 rebounds in only 25 minutes of action.
Third-Place Game:
Arkansas Baptist 83
RMU-Springfield 77
Third-seeded Arkansas Baptist connected on 31-of-55 shots from the floor (56.4%) and held off a couple of Robert Morris rallies in the second half to defeat the top-seeded Eagles 83-77.
The Buffaloes held a 46-41 lead at the break as both teams connected on over 50% of its shots in the game. The Eagles could not slow down the Buffaloes stamped in the second half and RMU dropped its second game of the tournament.
Terrell Jacob scored 31 points to lead four in double-figures for Arkansas Baptist, while Corley Lee from RMU matched him with 31 points and had 17 rebounds.

Robert Morris men heading to tournament as #1 seed!
Finishing the year ranked #1 in the USCAA for Men's Division I Basketball, the Robert Morris-Springfield men will heading into the National Tournament as the #1 seed. Twice capturing the consolation bracket and last year being knocked out the semi-finals to eventual champion Rochester College, the Eagles are hungry for their first National Championship.
As the #1 seed, they will receive a bye in their quarter-final game and play on Friday night at 9:00pm in one semi-final against the winner of #4 Philander Smith/#5 Marygrove College game.

Final Home game canceled!
Robert Morris-Springfield will receive a forfeit win in their last home game of the 2005-2006 season as Logan College contacted Coach Gordon and informed him they would not be able to play the contest.
Lee & Moretto pace Eagles to victory!
Corley Lee and Tyler Moretto led all score's with 27 and 19 points respectively pacing the Eagles to a 60-56 victory on the road at Rose-Hulman. Leading 31-27 at the break, both teams each scored 29 points in the second half. Lee also finished with 11 rebounds and 5 steals for RMU.

Wiseman, seniors shine on their night!
Matt Wiseman (senior; Athens, IL) led all score's on Senior Night scoring a game-high 18 points and pulling down 7 rebounds. Along with Wiseman, seniors Brandon Byrne (Clinton, MS) and Matt McElroy (Decatur, IL) contributed with 10 points and 7 points respectively defeating the visiting Preacher's from Concordia Seminary 94-48. Robert Morris-Springfield shot 52.7% for the game. Three other Eagle's were in double-figures with Tyler Moretto (14 points) and Tim Hahn & Corley Lee (13 points each). Lee recorded a game-high 8 rebounds.
Play of the night! Midway through the second half as Robert Morris was in Concordia's court the ball popped free for a scramble. At 7'1" Brandon Byrne through his body to the court, kept possession alive for the Eagles, raced back to his feet to receive an entry pass in the Preacher's lane and finish the play he started.
Senior Night rescheduled!
Robert Morris - Springfield's Senior Night game has been moved to Thursday, February 9 against Concordia Seminary at The Prairie Capital Convention Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm. The seniors will be honored and recognized prior to tip-off.
Moretto, Hahn lead Robert Morris-Springfield!
Tyler Moretto (sophomore; Pekin, IL) and Tim Hahn (sophomore; Athens, IL) combined for 55 points to lead RMU-Springfield past the RMU-Chicago JV team 97-80. RMU-Springfield connected on 40 of 68 field goal attempts shooting 58.8%. The Springfield Eagles continued to roll in the second half after leading at the break 52-27. Moretto scored a game high 29 points on 12 of 17 shooting while Hahn connected for 26 points 10 of 12 shooting. Both guards were 5 of 6 on 3-pointers. As a team, RMU-Springfield shot 10 of 14 beyond the arc. Corley Lee contributed with 16 points. T.J. Listen Bee led RMU-Chicago JV with 20 points.
Eagles claim tournament title!
The Robert Morris University - Springfield Eagles traveled to St. Louis to take part in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Tournament. Along with capturing the tournament title, the Eagles placed two individuals on the All-Tournament Team. Tim Hahn (sophomore; Athens, IL) and Corley Lee (sophomore; Decatur, IL) were named to the All-Tournament Team, in addition Lee was named Tournament MVP. The 6'6" sophomore from Decatur averaged 15.5 points in two games and pulled down 8 rebounds in Saturday's championship game. Hahn scored 20 points and 14 points respectively.

Lee named USCAA Division I Player of the Week!
Corley Lee (sophomore; Decatur, IL), a 6'6" forward, was named USCAA Div. I Player of the Week for January 18, 2006. In two games last week, Lee had 46 points, 4 assists, 1 block and 7 steals. Lee's accomplishments led to one victory versus Edgewood College 75-72.

Eagles atop rankings!
In the latest USCAA Men's Division I rankings, Robert Morris-Springfield has moved into the #1 spot ahead of defending National Champs Rochester College.
Robert Morris tops Eureka!
Corley Lee went 10-for-14 from the field and finished with a game high 24 points and 15 rebounds. Tim Hahn, Tyler Moretto and Andy Battey each added 13 points apiece.
Eagles split two on the road!
In weekend action, the RMU men's basketball team split two on the road. On Saturday evening, the Eagles defeated NCAA DIII Edgewood College 75-72. Led by Corley Lee (Decatur, IL) with 22 points and Tyler Moretto (Pekin, IL) with 13 points, the Eagles out-rebounded Edgewood 34-25. Tim Hahn (Athens, IL) shot 4-for-5 from behind 3-point land for the Eagles to finish with 15 points.
On Sunday evening, NCAA DIII Oshkosh upended the Eagles 69-58. Leading by four at the break, RMU watched Oshkosh go on a 27-11 run to start the second half and take a 59-47 lead with less than four minutes remaining. RMU was forced to foul in the closing moments and Oshkosh connected on 17-for-26 from the foul line. Corley Lee, who sank 11 of his 12 field goal attempts, led RMU with 24 points.
Hahn, Eagles defeat Loggers!
Former LLCC guard Tim Hahn, helped his new team to an impressive victory over the NJCAA DII #7 ranked Loggers Tuesday evening at The Prairie Capital Convention Center. Hahn, a sophomore guard from Athens, IL, scored 15 points and dished out 7 assists on the night. Corley Lee led RMU in scoring with 20 points, and Matt Wiseman and Justin Kelly scored 10 and 11 respectively. Kelly, a sophomore guard from Springfield HS, hit 4-of-4 free throws in the last two minutes of the game when the score was 62-60 RMU. Both Kelly and Hahn handled the pressure of LLCC down the stretch as The Loggers were trying to narrow the margin.
Late bucket propels Eagles!
Tyler Moretto (sophomore; Pekin, IL) picked up a loose ball and scored with less than 1 second remaining to lift the Eagles past Millikin 70-68. "It was a quality win on their floor," head coach Kevin Gordon said. This is the Eagles first victory over Millikin in their last three meetings. The Eagles have also won three of their last four games to improve to 7-6 overall. Moretto penetrated the lane and missed his initial shot but RMU's Skyler McKinley (freshman; Carthage, IL) collected the rebound only to have it slapped out of his hands and right to Moretto. This time, Moretto 'went up strong' and made no mistake converting his 16th field goal attempt. Other big time contributors were Tim Hahn (sophomore; Athens, IL) who hit 8-for-11 field goal attempts, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range for a game-high 24 points. Matt Wiseman (senior; Athens, IL) added 16 points and Decatur native Corley Lee contributed with 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Lee, Eagles top Highlanders!
For the second time in as many games, sophomore Corley Lee posted 29 points to lead the Eagles to victory. Leading by five at the break 40-35, RMU continued their hot shooting into the second half. Justin Kelly (sophomore; Springfield, IL) came off the bench to hit three crucial buckets midway through the second half to finish with six points. Shawn March (freshman; Golden, IL) contributed with 10 points off the bench. Starters Matt Wiseman and Tim Hahn each scored 14 points apiece.
RMU shot 57.1% on 36/63 shooting, 56.3% from 3-point land and 93.8% on 15/16 free throws. MacMurray shot 41.1% on 30/73 shooting, 41.9% from 3-point land and 66.7% on 8/12 free throws.
Eagles fly past Rockford!
Corley Lee (Decatur, IL) led Robert Morris University past Rockford College with 29 points and 17 rebounds. Matt Wiseman (Athens, IL) pitched in with seven points and nine rebounds while Tyler Moretto (Pekin, IL) added nine points and dished out nine assists for the Eagles. Tim Hahn (Athens, IL) finished with 10 points for RMU.
2nd Half Slump!
RMU-Springfield trailed NCAA DII Truman State 33-40 at the break. The Eagles played a very respectable first half on the road shooting nearly 50% from the field, but the second witnessed RMU connect on only 29% of their shots. For the game RMU shot 38% on 21-of-55 while the Bulldogs of Truman State connected on 55% with 34-of-62 from the field.
Tyler Moretto led RMU with 16 points. Tim Hahn had 14 points while Corley Lee scored 12 points. Andy Battey pulled down 7 rebounds.
Eagles outsized!
Facing their second NCAA DII GLVC opponent this season, RMU-Springfield were outsized and outgunned by the University of Southern Indiana. Corley Lee led the way for RMU with 13 points and 9 boards. Brandon Byrne (senior; Clinton, MS) contributed with 6 points and 5 boards while Andy Battey (sophomore; Forest City, IL) came off the bench to score 8 points.
Hawks Hang on to Win!
Robert Morris-Springfield experienced their first defeat of the 2005-06 season, but it was not without putting up a fight against NCAA DII Quincy University Hawks. Quincy, looking to avenge their 93-87 loss to Robert Morris a season ago, needed a 9-2 run late in the second half to preserve their season-opening victory.
Leading 36-25 at the half, Robert Morris went on a 15-2 run capped with Corley Lee's (sophomore; Decatur, IL) 3-pointer that gave the Eagles a 40-38 lead with 13:41 left in the game. A 3-pointer by Quincy would regain a 41-40 lead that they would never relinquish.
The Eagles were led by Tyler Moretto (sophomore; Pekin, IL) and Skyler McKinley (freshman; Carthage, IL) with 14 points each.
Eagles go to 3-0!
With a 77-73 victory over Trinity College, Robert Morris-Springfield made it 3-0 after sweeping through their trip to Florida. Corley Lee scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the Eagles. Tyler Moretto added 15 points for Robert Morris.
Eagles open with victory!
Corley Lee scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Robert Morris-Springfield past Southeastern College 72-59. In addition to a solid start by Lee, Matt Wiseman scored 17 points for Robert Morris, Tim Hahn added 12 and Tyler Moretto had 10. Southeastern, the defending NCCAA Champions, was led by Joey Gunter with 15 points.
2005-06 Underway!
The Eagles prepped for their 2005-06 campaign with an exhibition win over visiting Hannibal LaGrange 63-56. Leading the way for Robert Morris-Springfield was sophomore transfer Corley Lee. Lee finished with a game high 21 points. Senior forward Matt Wiseman contributed with 18 points. Wiseman shot 50% from the 3-point line.
Robert Morris travels to Florida to face Southeastern College in their opener; then they will face Clearwater Christian College and Trinity College.
