RMU-Springfield seeded #4!

The RMU-Springfield men's basketball squad finished the regular season at 13-15 and with the #4 seed heading into next week's USCAA Div. 1 National Tournament being played in Tulsa, OK.  The Eagles will receive a bye in the first round and play their first game on Thursday, March 3 against host #5 seed Rhema Bible.  Tip-off is set for 7:00pm.

Eagles knock off NCAA D2 Quincy!

Junior forward Matt Wiseman was 7-8 from 3-point land leading RMU to a shooting display of 75% from 3-point land.  As a team the Eagles shot 12-16 from 3-points and 30-48 field goals.  Dirk Wiseman and Tyler Morretto each added 26 points in addition to Wiseman's 27 points to lead RMU.  Williams also pulled down 10 rebounds for the day.

SENIOR NIGHT!

Come out and support your Robert Morris University Eagle's seniors on Saturday, Feb. 12th at 3:00pm.  This will be the last home game of the 2004-2005 season as they face NCAA Div. II opponent Quincy University.  Game will be played at Lincoln Land Community College.

Eagles defeat Preachers!

RMU was paced by Dirk Williams with 29 points and Travaras Reed with 22 points to lead the Eagles over host Lincoln Christian College Preachers.  Matt Wiseman contributed with 18 points, Tyler Morretto added 15 points and Andrew Battey pitched in with 11 points. 

Williams named to All-Tourney Team!

Senior forward Dirk Williams was selected to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy All-Tournament Team.  In two games, Williams averaged 19.5 points and 13 rebounds.

Eagle's capture tourney championship!

The RMU-Springfield Eagle's won both games to claim the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Winter Classic.  On Friday evening, RMU was led by Dirk Williams with 21 points and 9 rebounds to defeat the host team 87-69.  Matt Wiseman added 16 points and 7 rebounds.  In their second game of the tournament, the Eagle's defeated Concordia Seminary 106-77.  Freshman point guard Tyler Morretto had a season-high 35 points.  Dirk Williams contributed with 18 points and 17 rebounds and Brandon Byrne had a career-high 17 points.

UMSL stops Robert Morris!

RMU's Dirk Williams scored 22 points and Tyler Morretto added 21, but the University of Missouri-St. Louis beat the Eagles 90-65.

Eagles out-gunned out west!

In their first of three games out west, RMU-Springfield was out-gunned by the University of Redlands 160-104.  Competing in the Redlands Tournament, RMU was led by freshman Tyler Morretto with a triple-double.  Morretto scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 10 assist.  Senior Travaras Reed scored a team-high 26 points while pulling down 14 rebounds.  The Redlands ran at RMU with 12 players seeing action over 10 minutes and a total of 21 players at least seeing court time. 

"Change in game time!"

RMU vs. Eureka College on Thursday, Dec. 16th at the Prairie Capital Convention Center has been changed to a 7:45pm tip-off.

There will be two exhibition games prior to RMU:
5:00pm - Athens 7th graders
6:15pm - Athens 8th graders

Needed victory secured!

After a four-game skid, RMU-Springfield men's basketball team secured a needed victory over visiting Principia College.  Though Principia kept the game tight at the break, 34-30 RMU, the Eagles were able to increase on their lead and close out the game 64-48.  Senior Dirk Williams led RMU with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Freshman Tyler Morretto also scored 21 points and dished out 4 assist.  RMU shot 47% from the field while holding Principia to 33%.

Eagles fall to Univ. of Missouri-Rolla!

Taking on their second NCAA Div. II opponent in as many weeks, RMU lost 53-80.  RMU had only two players reach double figures in scoring.  Dirk Williams finished with 11 points, 5 blocks and 4 rebounds.  Freshman Justin Kelly recorded 10 points.  RMU's record stands at an even 5-5 for the season.

End-to-end action!

In end-to-end action, MacMurray College was able to out-gun RMU in the final closing minutes.  MacMurray College held on to out-score RMU 64-56 in the second half for the decision.  Senior Dirk Williams led all score's with 32 points and 20 rebounds.  Matt Wiseman pitched in with his own double-double (26 points/12 rebounds).  Freshman Tyler Morretto recorded his double-double as well with 15 points and dishing out 10 assist playing all 40 minutes.

Eagles drop to NCAA Div. II SIU-E!

RMU was never able to recover from their first half deficit to legitimately challenge a tough SIU-E squad.  Freshman point guard Tyler Morretto led all score's with 18 points and 4 steals.  Dirk Williams was held to only 6 points, but did grab a game-high 10 rebounds.

Eagles split games at weekend tourney!

The Eagles split their weekend games at the Wabash College Little Giant Tip-off Tournament.  On Friday evening, RMU was led by Dirk Williams with 19 points and Matt Wiseman with 16 points against host Wabash College.  On Saturday, RMU was able to battle with Simpson College down to the wire, defeating Simpson in over-time 88-86.

Williams receives Special Mention!

Senior forward, Dirk Williams, received Special Mention as the SPARKS USCAA Players of the Week for the week ending November 14, 2004.

Eagles suffer first loss in OT!

The RMU-Springfield men suffered their first loss to USCAA opponent Philander Smith College in OT.  In a game that was tightly contested; 36-36 at half, 74-74 at the end of regulation, Philander Smith connected on 67% shooting in OT to secure their victory.  Leading the way for the Eagles was Dirk Williams with a game high 30 points.  Travaras Reed pitched in with 18 points, Matt Wiseman scored 14 points and Tyler Morretto added 13 points and 10 assist.

Williams leads RMU-Springfield to victory!

Senior forward Dirk Williams scored a game high 29 points to lead RMU-Springfield over RMU-Chicago JV in Monday nights action.  Williams also pulled down a game high 16 rebounds, dished out 4 assist and had 4 blocked shots on the evening.  Freshman point guard Tyler Morretto scored 25 points, hitting 3-of-6 from three-point land.  Travaras Reed added 19 points and Matt Wiseman pulled down 12 rebounds.

Eagles improve to 3-0!

RMU-Springfield improved to 3-0 to start out their 2004-05 campaign.  The Eagles rolled through the state of Florida posting wins over Clearwater Christian College 95-80, Southeastern College 74-70, and Florida College 91-85.  Travaras Reed scored 23 points and Tyler Morretto added 22 to help RMU to victory over Florida College.  Matt Wiseman posted a double-double against Florida College with 12 points and 13 rebounds.  Dirk Williams accomplished the same feat on Friday evening as he posted 21 points and grabbed 15 boards in RMU's victory over Clearwater Christian.

Recruiting class for 2004!

Coach Gordon believes this could be the strongest and deepest recruiting class in his three years as head coach for RMU-Springfield.  There will be five new freshman entering along with a sophomore and junior transfer.
