2008 USCAA Baseball National Championship - 3rd Place
2009 Baseball
2010 Season Outlook Experience, talent, and chemistry are the ingredients to success for the 2010 baseball Eagles. Two of those ingredients are in place, with the first being experience. The experience comes from the ten returnees on the roster, including three starting senior pitchers; Chris Smith (Cerro Gordo, IL), Shamus Smith (Pittsfield, IL), and Kyle Forshee (Springfield, IL). T.J. McCoy (Decatur, IL) also returns as a four-year starter behind the plate. Outfielder Miles Morris (LeRoy, IL) is the fifth and final senior on the squad.
Talent is the ingredient comprised of the returnees, and what Head Coach Mark Rabideau labels the incoming recruiting class. Among those recruits is Tony Zubia (Greenwood, IN), a talented outfielder who transferred from Danville Area Community College. The remaining members of this year’s recruiting class are all freshmen. Rabideau says, “This class has added a lot of talent, and has filled the gaps left by those who departed last year.” This year’s class has also added depth, which was something missing from the Eagles’ first three seasons.
Chemistry is the ingredient Rabideau says, “…..is the piece of the puzzle which will make or break the 2010 edition of Eagle Baseball.” Rabideau added, “If our players gel together and play as a team, we will have something very special to build on.” Overall, this team has the capabilities for much success. Those capabilities rely on the three ingredients coming together to make a winning final product.
